I saw an MMO a while ago in a PCzone, it was with Romans but set in the future, any ideas?
cant remember the game...but it was put on (indefinate?) hold until they finished whatever other projects they were working on. I doubt it will be continued though by how things sounded.
I think it was called imperator, about a future if the Roman's had never been defeated. It got shelved not sure if it will ever see the light of day but if an MMO wants to be Roman, Roma Victor is the way to go.
Vanguard has definitely not been shelved. They're just starting up beta and invites are going out now. They're moving right along.
I'm not saying it'll be great but I think it looks like a good game that's more in the EQ style at the Velious stage of the game.
I have no plans on being a diplomat, it's another Roleplaying opportunity like crafting. If you like crafting you will probably like diplomacy. There are three areas that each player can level in, adventuring, which is the typical MMO stuff, Crafting, and diplomacy which is interesting, but not something I'll pursue.
I'm looking at Vanguard, Age of Conan and that's all I see as serious contenders right now. I'm not a fan of instancing and both PotBS and Auto Assault seem to be heavy into that. If they turn out really well I'll try them but I'll wait for the reviews on those.
I won't place a game until I can read about it lol.
Anyways this game seems to be competing with RO2. I feel sorry for square enix for taking the same release date for RO2 in Japan, it will be a massacre considering how popular RO is in Japan.
Originally posted by Laserwolf Why is Roma Victor always left off the list? It's one of the few Small-Dev Team MMORPGs moving at a fast and strong pace. It appears almost all their initial "features" will be in game and even more. It will even be free, which I don't like, but a lot of others seem to. I have yet to hear a Beta Tester breaking the NDA to put it down like I have heard from Beta Testers in Auto Assault, D&D Online, Dark & Light, and many more. The combat is extremely unique, it will have the most in-depth crafting system of any MMORPG out there, and it will even have the most unique death system ever created for an MMORPG. Just read this first post and tell me you are not drooling at the end. http://www.roma-victor.com/community/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3284&start=0 Sure there is a lot of faith involved, especially with the fact it is a small company and that the screenshots released so far are not too pretty(Official Reason is that a lot of the Graphics have been toned down for Testing reasons) , but most the MMORPGs listed to the left are from small companies. As for graphics, it seems that 90% of the MMORPGs that fail to release have really nice looking character models or landscapes but no content at all.
TBH without trying to give anything away think many gonna be dissappointed with this one BUT like it has no real monthly payment as such.So might get a couple of thousand of people.
I am offically saying Dark and Light, and Settlers of Ganereth SUCKS. After playing it extensivelly, or what they call playing, for a week I grueled through trying to get to level 3 only to discover the Rogue has absolutely nothing that has to do with rogues. I will list more Negative features:
Servers down 90% of the time, and requires a 3 day maintenence every week.
Not enough monsters, much of the world is empty, and the few mobs in the gigantic world that are there are thuroughly camped.
Animation is choppy with 25 FPS cap.
Game looks ugly with any setting unless your 10k feet in the sky.
Combat is severely slow.
Half the BGMs are ripped from '95 games.
Game does not deliver whats promised (Social Structure, Player run government, NPCs and quests, far less then "Thousands of Skills")
So that game is being removed from my list, its a large disappointment.

Asdar
What about Fantasy Earth? It might be a ways off but technically it will be out pretty soon. (In japan)
From what I understand - it willl mainly be PvP based.
It's being made by Squarenix and might surprise some people. FFXI was pretty good for a bit - despite the poor decision on no NA servers.

If they plan on an english version it might even come out before some of the other games listed.

Twilight War
Beta begins in early 2007. And it looks quite nice.

No Userbar here, sorry to disappoint.
I'm sure I said that earlier, but it didn't post it.
