Well, as for animes I think could make good MMO's. Lets pretend whoever makes the MMO actually does a good job aswell. I honestly dont think with current MMO technology and mindset any of these could be accomplished the way I often think about them. I wont list any mideval anime's due to the fact theres way to many mideval MMORPG's out and not enough everything ealse.
Cowboy Bebop- One of my favorite anime's, large world you could explore- Idea's Do anything you want, be a Bounty Hunter, Criminal, Own a shop, Be a police man etc etc.. Though it would be limited to races which may not appeal to some. Humans.. and maybe dog? lol (Ein )
Naruto- Another one of my favorites. This one would have lots of variety on locations and different types of skills etc. Healing Jutsu's (Medic) Sand County, Hidden Leaf etc etc, all have different skills they could use, and I think if made correctly could be one of the coolest PvP games out there. But no one would have any luck making it work in my opinion. If anything it would be some boring grind fest with slow boring moves to go with it. I would like it to be fast paced, lots of skill use during fights , controls alot like RYL if it could be pulled off better.
Samurai Champloo- Just sounds cool, theres alot of asian game out there, but I dont like any of them aside from Silk Road, and that ones mostly a grind fest aswell. But If you could do as you please, ex. Be a wandering Samurai, a Trader/Shop Owner, Musician, just things that made up the anime it would be cool. The thing I think that would most set this MMO aside would be the Hip-Hop value, I dont like rap or anything, but its origionality in this anime would hopefully show in the MMORPG.
Hellsing- Not sure about this one, I like the anime alot, but it sounds like it would have to be VERY faction based and a PvP game, Humans vs. Vampires.
Final Fantasy 7-(yes theres a ff7 anime ;p "The last Order") I always thought that game had the coolest world and time period. The technology was really cool, the style of the vehicles and architecture, it just seems like it would be a really fun world to explore in etc. Once again, things that ruin it are grind fests, boring quests etc. I think for a game like this it would be more fun if you can do whatever you want as ive previousley stated. Its ok to have levels, but dont confine players to it. Add merchants that can own NPC shops and sell their wares, create player cities etc, if not create cities atleast have districts where players can build a shop, though with lotsof people doing it, the world may become a huge city (Think ultima online) Which would kind of ruin it for me, Id have to think up some way to prevent this.
Unfortunately thoes are the only anime's that I can think of atm, I may edit this later and give more ideas, its kinda fun to think of things like this, though its also disappointing to know it will never happen and if it does, it wont be as fun as the ideas are.
Smurfs Online.....just think of the possibilites...
What about Carebears Online......oh wait, isnt that what everyone calls WoW??

Well...if a anime became an MMO...where would the main characters be? Most of all the people making the MMOs would probally forget the main charcters. I'm making an MMO based on an anime I made...hard stuff to do... so yeah. but heres a list of anime's that could make MMOs.
Cowboy Bebop Naruto Samurai Champloo Blame Outlaw Star Dragon Knights G Gundam Ghost in the Shell Fullmetal Alchemist Gungrave
Well thats it... Eva wouldn't make a good one...the setting isn't on a global scale only japan and it would be kind of wierd too.
I saw the last Neon Genesis Evangelion movie, "The End" and holy HELL was it wierd and violent, I highly doubt it'd make a good game, unless you want gigantic bio-organic mech-demons beating each other bloody (Literally, although it would be rather cool). If I could have an anime-made-MMO id be choosing between Trigun or Cowboy Bebop
I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

im still holding out that the supposed release date of the rough crude first version of "the world' corresponding within a year of the PS3 release date is no coincidence

No apologies for thinking outside the box guys. Its off topic and intended to be a fun post so by all means think outside the box! Reason I thought of starting the post in the first place is that most of the current MMO's follow standard fantasy rules and seem to have a difficult time thinking of other types of worlds to build. Cartoons just seemed a natural fit as they are the picture of different and creative worlds. Carebares would be hysterical... Choose your own tummy logo and special affect, perhaps slap an age 18 and over restriction on it and let mayhem ensue
Yeah, assume that the developers of the game are excessively talented and capable of developing outside the box to create a game true to the form of the cartoon. And where required add special tweaks to the cartoon to make it more entertaining
Hats off to the 1930's idea, give me a pin striped suite, tommy gun and some suicide doors on an enormouse coupe. Throw in rum runners, yee ha!
once again... .hack//sign... The World would be amazing if they did it right... but im sure we would need Virtual Reality to make it absolutely amazing...
Things are too static right now. Once people make good game models for Dynamic games, The World would work. With todays game models, a .hack//sign MMORPG would just be another stupid grind game.
one of the skills for carebear online could feature you ripping of anothers head and pulling all the stuffing out (my dog gave me that idea :P) no one would ever call some one a carebear in a mmog again :P

i dont mean to change the topic too much but i think a 1930s mmorpg might be pretty cool, or at least something new.
