Tuesday Hotfix Update and Pub 27

WeppsWepps Member Posts: 1,322

This is meeting with a lot of kudos from the SWG forums currently. Some who have as recently as today have been complaining, have apologized and are giving positive feedback now. It seems each publish (so far) has had this effect.

Personally, I was impressed with the buggy, but also very good pub 26 that has cleaned up a lot of my game play.

Anyway, here are the notes....

*****************************

Here we are at the end of another week and I wanted to update you on a variety of things.
In no particular order:

Hotfix on Tuesday: Just to let you know, we are planning a hotfix for next Tuesday (Tuesday 12/20). As the specific items for the hotfix get implemented and added to the hotfix, I will update you on what those items are.

Double XP: For those of you who haven't seen the announcement, we are re-enabling Double XP and we'll be running it over the holidays! You can find the announcement here.

Events Page: Pex and Virrago have been working to get the Events Page updated. There is a lot of events going on so if you get a chance, don't forget to check and see what events are happening in your neck of the galaxy. You can find the Events page here.

Holiday Events: We also have some additional player events that are related to the holidays. You can find the Holiday Events here. The Holiday Events can also be found on the "Latest News" page. I found it helpful to set the book mark for my Official Fan Site link to this page:

http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/players/

Galactic Home Show: Another thing you won't want to miss is this week's Galactic Home Show. GarVa has posted a great screenshot for this week. It is a fantastic miniature of an Imperial Star Destroyer built in-game from all sort of items and comes complete with a miniature space battle with X-Wings and TIE Fighters!

Virrago's Weekly Picks: Virrago has his Weekly Forum Picks up this week too! You can find it here.

On to some Development Issues:

Network Issue: There is a community problem that is affecting folks on the east coast that's been dubbed the "East Coast Lag" issue. Our Technical Support and Operations teams have been investigating the issue. It's turning out to be a pretty thorny issue, so we are asking for your help. You can find that focus thread here: Focus Thread: East Coast Networking Issue

*Note: Please read all of the Focus Thread before replying.

Third Character Slot for Pre-NGE Jedi: The final answer is you get to keep the extra slot! 'nuff said.

TC Mustafarians: Just to let everyone who plays on TC regularly, Mustafar access is good to go! Thanks for your patience and sorry it took so long. It's just that right now, the team is working hard to make as many fixes and positive changes on Live right now as possible.

Harvester Issues: We have been working on understanding why the 50% increase in harvester extraction rates hasn't kicked in. We've also been working on looking into occurrences of missing Hopper items. There hasn't been any news on the 50% increase in extraction rates, but the team is looking into it. We've been able to reproduce the missing items in the hopper, but not every time. The folks working on this issue are narrowing it down and we hope to have a solid fix soon. If you think you know a way to reproduce this 100% of the time, please let us know.

Character Transfer: Many of you have been asking about the Character Transfer Service. The latest news is that with the extra character slots for SWG, the CTS tool needs to be upgraded a bit. Work continues on that and we hope to have it available for you soon.

Trader Revamp: Currently, the Trader Revamp is scheduled for Publish 29. As the initial design is finalized and we get closer to the publish, we'll be able to get you the information you are looking for.

Publish 27: Publish 27 is scheduled for January. The full list of changes and features is being developed, but here's a look at the plans:

Entertainer Revamp: The Entertainer Revamp is planned for Publish 27. I'll be working to get you a look at the details soon. My goal is to have them to you either before the end of the year or the first couple of days into the New Year. One thing to keep in mind though: We'll be looking at making this change a lot of fun so if it isn't ready for Publish 27, it might be pushed out to Publish 28.

Heavy Weapons: Heavy Weapons are also planned to be part of Publish 27. Getting that document out to you as soon as it's ready is on my to-do list.

Multi-Person Vehicles: Publish 27 will also include some improvements to the radial menu for getting in and out of multi-passenger ground vehicles.

As it Develops: As fixes and development items are added to Publish 27, we'll continue to update you with these types of Community Updates.

That's all for now.

Take care and have a great weekend!

    THIS ON SMUGGLERS

    **************

SmugglinZane, there have been early plans that include Smugglers. I'm working on getting a high level look at the game, but that probably won't happen until the new year.

I am very aware of what the Smugglers have gone through and I'm not saying anything until I know when and how it's happening.

I want to make very sure that the info I bring to the community is solid information. Especially issues that involve the Entertainers, Traders, Smugglers and other community members who have a lot of passion invested in the news that I bring them about their aspects of the game.

Sounds impressive at first, but if you read deeper into it, what's in there?  Lots of promises, lots of "we are looking into it" and a bone to distract most people (at least it's not a painting!)

Oh!  And 2 more revamps????  (God I hate that word so much now!)  If they're going to be like all the other revamps, these are the ones when they get finally removed from the game for not beign Star-Warsy (I hate that word even more!)

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

I was just about to post something similar. I hate to sound so negative, and if things do pan out all right, I'll be the first to admit it I was wrong, but I was a Droid Engineer so I know how even after 2 revamps, a profession can still be a useless mess.

More promises and peeps like wepps eat it up like candy. They promised similiar fixes over a 6 month period after the CU.

And honestly who cares. Its still a FPS which is ridiculously dumb and pointless for a mmorpg. Crafters still have decay and their best gear will never ever matter because again its a FPS.

Stats dont matter. Skill tapes wont get fixed for the same reason. In the end, all that matters is who has a faster connection, quicker reflexes, and better able to point a cursor. So what the hell is the point in investing time and money in a toon that cant be improved pfftt.

The old skill tapes don't matter anymore, but the new skill clothing that you loot does and will definetly help you in your game play.  Some stats increase your overall health or action, while others affect how much you hit for with a ranged or melee weapon.  All skill tapes for crafters work as they always did pre-nge.

To say that the best connection wins is pretty naive.  I live half way around the world with an average ping of 350 and I have no problems with PvP or PvE.  Anyone who knows about broadband throughout the world will know that New Zealand's broadband is pretty crap and is typically capped at 256kbps (like mine) unless you want a very restrictive download cap.  If I was to play a FPS in these conditions with the server based on the US East Coast, I'd be screwed.

And that pretty much sums up why you no longer have any credibility Wepps.

Let's be fair here, I don't remember any patch or publish EVER that was clean from SOE, but particularly in SWG.

But the fact that it instantly killed thousands of griefers with harvesters on my resource locations, and my drive lag was suddenly better than any time in SWG history, tells me that they are finally heading in a desirable direction.

The fact that you hang out here and talk about my credibility is meaningless to me. You just don't matter.
