My opinion (long, at least to me)

Well I've have been playing EVE for a short period of time now, and currently I love it, the graphics are simply amazing, and I also thing the gameplay is amazing, but I find that one thing this game is lacking a bit from the other mmos out there, and that is lvling up the skills. Yes, I have heard that this game rewards those who are patient, but unfortuantly to me that just doesnt seem rewarding, so why dont they give you experiance to the areas that you use in the game while keeping the current way of lvling there, just for those who go offline, since aura, the instructor :P says that the skills are downloaded into your brain or something of that nature, but what about actual usage of the skills, shouldnt that at least provide some benifit towards the skills that you use. Like mining for example, buy using the mining skill should add SP to the skill instead of no other benifit other than gathering, same goes with commanding of your ship, using certain weapons, etc. but other than that i see no other problem...other than there not being many pirates in some of the starting systems for the rookies to train their combat skills on.

This whole thing is probably errornomys simply because the caffiene in my system is fading, but it is my opinion on the game, and ill give a review for this game after my 14 day trial is up. feel free to post your thoughts on my opinion, and ill try to correct any errors i might have put in after i get some sleep. Good Day to all of you and enjoy this game.

First of all, viewing EVE's skill system like the skill system in other MMORPGs is not a correct way of viewing things. In other games, your skills define your character. In EVE, your actions define your character. For example, in other games, I pick a class and I can only do what that class does. If I'm a healer, I'm unable to tank, no matter how hard I try (and try I have with incompetent groups). In EVE, if I decide to be a miner, I can also pick up my combat ship later on and participate in PvP if I choose to do so. The best way of looking at EVE's skills is like research; the longer you play the game, the more research is available to you and more items and abilities are open to you at your disposal. EVE's skills are tools, not the definition, of your character.

Second of all, there have been discussions regarding getting better at skills when you use them but was ultimately rejected because it promotes AFK macroing.

    Agreed.

The game used to give you SP in certain areas. Changing fittings on your ship gave you points in mechanic, everytime you navigated your ship you goined points in navigation, etc. It was ultimately removed as people were exploiting it creating macros that leveld them up too quickly.

I dont know anyting that you can afk macro besides mining, and I heard that is bad here. Heck I still dont even know how to make a macro in this game heh, I guess I dont know much yet. But is there a way to shorten the amount of time to "research" the skill your leveling up?
