You should go battlemaster.
Most people see paladins as "defensive" tanks and battlemaster got one of the best defensive abilities (bodyguard). So most of them expect "paladin -> battlemaster". Warlord isn't that bad either but there are just some instant shouts/auras you won't really need that often.
While bodyguarding one of your groupmates (and while both standing) the bodyguarded character isn't attackable by any melee or ranged physical attacks (not sure on arrows/bolts) as long as you both are standing there (great for pbae casters). You aren't allowed to do anything while you bodyguard - the guarded guy may cast whatever he want (as long as he doesn't move).
