Alliance Vs. Horde

I want to hear your opinions, on which side are you going to have the most fun

Having been 100% horde till recently, I was amazed at how much bigger the Alliance Capitol City is. It feels like a real city. The up to 20 game also seems to be a bit more varied on the Alliance side. There are at least three sets of zones where you can do those levels on the alliance side, and only two on the horde side. The Alliance feels a lot more "fleshed out" in general to me then the Horde did.

That said, it really comes down to personal taste. Whatever race appeals to you the most is the one that will be the most fun to play. The first time you play through the game it's going to be fun no matter what side you pick. If you like gnomes go with allaince. If you liek Orcs go with the Horde.

Most servers have about twice as many Alliance as Horde characters, but it doesn't make any difference there are still a ton of horde players to meet and interact with. I haven't been able to tell any difference between the maturity level of horde and alliance players, I've met great peaple and idgits on both sides.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

What? Um.. horde's "two" are Barrens and Silverpine, but Barrens is so huge it practically makes two zones, AND it branches off into three.

As for the "twice as many" comment- this is only true on RP PVE servers. The normal ratio is actually 40 horde for every 60 alliance.

Although I must admit alliance is more fleshed out and slightly favored (notice every time a holiday or event comes, Blizzard advertises with alliance)

but I like horde because they have less guys on their side and what fun is having the odds with you when you pwn already??

Ive been told (and witnessed to a certain extent) that horde have better equipment/items especially in their lvl 60 areas, while alliance holds much more gold.  Im not 100% positive on this because it was related to me from a friend and therefore isn't a personal account of mine, but, thats what i was told.

The Barrens is a huge zone to be sure. You could easilly level through it twice and do very few of the same quests. And it's a very pretty zone the first time you see it. But it still doesn't seem like as much variety to me as what you get on the Alliance side. I remember dreading to start a new alt at some point because I felt like I had done the Barrens and Silverpine to death. Not that the Alliance has a ton more variety for those early levels :)

But again, what race appeals to you is much more of a consideration than anything else, imo. The race you thinbk is "the coolest" will be the most fun to play. Both sides are surprisingly well balanced.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

thats truly bullshit, as the way to get lvl 60 items/gold are in Contested area's, neither controlled by the Horde or the Alliance.

I played both I have a 60 Alliance and a 40ish Horde character and I like alliance better then horde, but thats just my opinion.

personally, I play both. I play on both an Rp and a regular server. Overall, on the regular server, with the exception of Dwarves, I actually prefer the Horde better. There are pretty much an equal number of great players and tools, as a previous poster said, but I have actually had a better playing experience on the Horde side. This is not to say that the Alliance players are worse or anything, I jsut have a better gaming time as a Troll and have had better luck getting help from other Horde players as opposed to sarcastic comments/attitude oddly enough :)

However, on the Rp server, I will say that I like my dwarf paladin and hunter. The quests and newbie/lowbie areas seem fairly decent and are not as congested as the human areas I think. THere are also plenty of quests so if you don't want to jsut "grind" you could quest yourself to death very easily :)

Also, horde usually beats alliance in Battlegrounds. Odd how this happens when alliance outnumber horde 60 to 40 ::::05::

I am 100% alliance, but I think the horde is more fun.  They have less people and as such hve bonded as a community.  The alliance has all the kiddies like me so we're a little less mature, which is fun at times.  I love PVP so beign alliance sucks because I have to wait 1-2 hours to get a chance to PVP.  You will probably have fun no matter what side you choose.

Ok just a thing.  Horde normally wins the low lvl PuG WSG matches because honestly blizzard gave them a better build for PvP for the low lvl, if that wasnt true then the same thing wouldnt be happening across the servers, which it is. However at the higher lvls the winner in the BG is either A. the side with a premaid group with a TS or vent server. or B. Which side has more epic mounts/which side has more people who have been deeper into the end game raids

Personally having gone to end game, just OL and MC (havnet been to BWL) on the alliance and now having changed to horde im enjoying my horde characters more but that has more todo with me changing classes and being in a guild with peeps who have all been to 60 atleast once, in terms of which side attracts better people, the best most mature players i have seen have been on the horde side but alot of them got their xp playing alliance, both sides seem way over populated by bad/immature players

This is a hard question but it really matters what you want to do. First, try finding a server that is about 50/50 if you can. Go through the wow census and find a good server. After that, decide what class and race you want to be. There are many good combinations for both sides. My personal favorites are the elf hunter and the tauren shaman but you really have to find what interests you the most.

The most fun?  Horde definitely.  I've played both and pretty much abandoned my Alliance toons for the fun and friendliness of the Horde.  I have to mention that I play on an RP server and it seems that Horde tends to be nicer on those in general.  I can't whether or not the same is true for PVP or PVE servers.

As far as quests, I have enjoyed Horde questing much more than I did Alliance.  The Barrens is a great lower level area and there's always tons of people, so if you need help there's usually someone also doing the same quest.  The surrounding areas for mid-levels are also more interesting.  Of course, after a certain point you do go to the same areas as Alliance to level, so I guess what really matters is the first 30 levels, the people, and the cities.

    I love the Horde image

maybe that is because in BGs it doesn't matter if there are 1000 alliance for each 10 horde as the battle is always 10 vs 10 max?

I know the horde is said to dominate Battlegrounds and i suppose it is true, but in my own experience, so far, i won them all :) not many, just 4 ;)

    definitely horde 4tw

I played alliance at the start for a long time, got into a decent guild and started playing horde because i got bored with my alliance toon at 40

i was amazed that the people on the horde side spend a LOT more time playing the game and roleplaying than they do on the alliance.  ive grown to really dislike dwarves, who spend most of their time flirting with the guys playing night elf females than they do paying attention to whats going on during groups.  a lot of leroy jenkins paladins who constantly brag about how much better they are among all group members and forgetting about the massive DoT's the locks are using along with their druid and priests buffing the crap out of such an already crappy melee class.

im really starting to think that more serious roleplayers and gamers play on the horde side than alliance because theres not as much of that sexual distraction (sounds funny?).  the alliances version of roleplaying is chatting with a human female warlock and flirting back and forth in ironforge watching naked night elf females do a stripper dance.  On the horde side, its much more political and a lot deeper.  they take their raids even more seriously and each has great pride to be outnumbered (speaking for roleplay servers) by the plump and arrogant alliance with their boy king.  You often see guilds designed around roleplay and you rarely see that within the alliance.  The alliance more times than not dont even understand what roles most of the races play and insist on calling the undead "the scourge".

    screw you alliance :P

Lol, and here I thought it was just me that saw some of that. We have a guy on my server who repeatedly gets pwnd in PvP (besides me cause I suck) and he still keeps coming back for more and strutting around the newer players like myself. Although his character is like 15 lvls higher than my hunter, it sure is fun to have a couple of the horde 60s pound on him and I get a few shots in :)

Don't get me wrong, I do die alot in PvP cause I am still very new at it. But the horde players I run around with at the crossroads are all really respectful of each other and there is very little of the "you suck n00b, go away" behavior that I tend to see in most of the alliance players on my server. And I do play an alliance character on that one as well. It's interesting to see the difference in behavior and attitude, even at the lower levels.
