Well, there are similarites like ummmmmm nvm. I think and hope it will have nothing to do with the lineage genre, i hope it will be unique!!!! but from videos i saw it looked like its gonna be overhead!!! WTF!!!!!!! Hell no, that would suck, i want it to be like all other good mmo's out there in terms of WASD and in 3rd person were u can zoom in to were u like it.
I have seen overhead footage, but i have also seen alot of zoomed 3rd person footage, so the overhead cam appears to be optional. as for movement i am not sure hopefully it is as you said 'wasd' and not click to move.
It certainly seems similar in terms of the interface and graphics. There will be some big differences though - pvp is not open like in lineage 2 (cora cant attack other cora for example) Also there is no exp/item loss with pvp. Think they have designed it on lineage 2 but made it less 'hardcore' and more fun. There are of course advantages and disadvantages to this approach - so time will tell if it will be better. Game looks good though and I expect many Lineage 2 players will check it out (at least for a while)
I have been playing Lineage 2 for almost 2 years. I played the Phillipine Beta of RFO for about a week.
I have said it once, and I will say it again . . .there are no similarities between RFO and Lineage 2. The graphics are nowhere near similar. In my opinion RFO looks more like WoW than L2. The gameplay is somewhat similar, but Korean MMOs are all hack and slash to a great extent. The PvP is nice, but hardly intense . . as there is no exp loss or chance of item drop.
For me, I would rank RFO below such subscription games as Lineage 2, FFXI, World of Warcraft. I would say it is on an even "fun factor" as Guild Wars. It is, however, a little more fun than Everquest 2.
ok if u play a game for about a week u dont get high lvled and even get into the game good unless all u do is play 24 hrs a day. and second the pvp is about occupying land not jus for castleor whatever its a all out war with everyone thats around ur lvl available to play. way more intense pvp than lineage 2. now dont get me wrong lineage 2 had a great pvp but personally i think this is better. and also it is no where near wow in terms of graphics im sorry but wow is totally shitty in all aspecs of gaming it is the worst possible mmo in existance.
Personally, I loved the PvP in both Lineage ][ and World of Warcraft, heheh. My friend, who lives in the Philippines, has a lv30+ character and says she's enjoyed the game thus far (aside from the grind, heheh). Take into account the fact that she completely despises Linage ][ and... well, I just dont' think the two games will be very similar, lol~
The control scheme can be modified in RF Online and the battle system is, supposedly, more responsive than L2s. At least that's what she tells me, heheh. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to the entire RvRvR concept. ^__^
Leveling - There isn't really much "leveling" since it's a leveling of masteries and skills which get rid of the uber level-ness of the game unlike lineage 2
Graphics - yes somewhat similar, but not as good, but better than wow (according to my graphics card)
Sound - amazing
Visuals - the skills look sooo much better than Lineage 2... lineage 2 skills are poop compared to RF Online
PvP - Great, but the potion just makes the pvp somewhat stupid.. more pots = wins. Hence why it's possible for a Tanker to be attacked by multiple characters and just keep drinking pot and never die.
Quests - Straight forward like the Lineage 2, but much better explanation
Others - Mining is a cool feature of the game, which enables for the battle between the 3 races
Its really different. I played the Chinese Open Beta.
The grind is like any MMORPG where u party o solo for hours.
The big big difference is in the PVP.
L2 = PVP at Castle Sieges/Some Guild house Sieges and L2 didnt have Open PVP. The PvP was some really bad Violet system. If u dont get violet then no one can kill u. They can PK u but never kill u in PvP if u dont get violet.
RF Online = Open PvP in some special Fields. Where the 3 races can kill anyone from the other band. There was 1 event everyday where the 3 races fight for winning a Gem Mine. In that map there was open PvP.
RF Online sell/buy system between players is much better. There is a Machine where u place stuff u wanna sell and that's it. U can search thing u wanna buy from other players. Its like the Star wars galaxies Auction machine for newbies but this one is for any lvl.
RF Online has some weir PvP Ranking system(I dont know chinese so i couldnt understand this system 100%) where each race has 1 "PvP Player King". I guess he was "The king" because he had the most PvP Point in his race. I saw he like 2-3 times and he had a huge special aura.
I'm glad they're using an Auction House system; lacking that type of staple in the economy of L2 was a major disappointment for me. The PvP ranking system sounds kinda similar to the Honor Ranking system found in WoW which is pretty groovy. Man... is it February yet? =P
Actually, there are five patriarchs of each race, elected by the people because of the pvp points and leadership abilities ingame. There is no "king" and they don't get any better armor or weapon than regulars do, but they have the ability to mass message everyone in the race and direct forces in a massive war.
Lots of informative posts. I assume the information may not all be accurate as they have been from other version of RF Online. I read that the North American and European versions will be changed a bit from the Asian versions. In general, I'd guess the basics of the game would remain the same.
The auction house was a nice surprise, I never knew about that. Also, graphics don't really mean much me, at least not as much as the gameplay. If RFO plays like Lineage ][, I would be a litte disappointed. I am glad to hear that there are not many similarities according to some of these posts.
My question is what type of mmorpg will RFO be for someone who is not an uber-hardcore player? Will there be things to do other than grind for experience and RvRvR? Will there be a social aspect of the game, and maybe even some roleplaying? These are things I really look for in a mmorpg after I find myself interested in its game features.
This game does sounds really amazing. The graphics are insane and the RvRvR sounds really really neat. I used to play DAOC (Dark Age of Camelot) and the RvRvR in there was intence and if RFO has PVP like that it will not be a dispointment to anyone. The one thing that i am not really looking forward to is the potion thing. I read earlier in this post about them and they sound kinda one sided... so its seeming like if you create a huge tank and jsut carry around tons of potions you will be pretty much unstopable. But regardless to that the game looks amazing and i can NOT wait till its released. Is there a way to pre-order the game beacsue i would like to but havent found any info on it. Thanks
Is it just me... or does eveyone think that quadrapelegics are greedy? "i can't reach that" "i'm not tall enough" i mean c'mon now
I was going to pre-order at ebgames.com, but i decided to pre-order in a local eb games instead. The website gives you access to one of the betas, in store does not, but in store I know I will get the game on the same day it is released... that and i want the hype for the game to keep going up.. i love having something so awsome to look forward to lol

I play L2, and I kinda wanna check this out...lol.
Not just the nice graphics, but it also seems like it could be pretty interesting in game play. If they can manage to have no bots, I am there!!!!
