By far this is the best poll I have ever seen.  You gave several options on all sides and not just the options you think everyone should vote for.  Everyone take note of how polls should look.

Thank you for the compliment.  That was after a 12-pack, so upon viewing it this morning, I was just happy I spelled the words correctly....

Twelve votes and not one positive yet...

I personally hate this game (For myself, 18 months of "God I can't wait for this game to come out" which soon turned into "Where's the f_cking droids?  This game is Land Of The Lost without the f_cking Sleestaks!").

Almost two months since I've been on, and just to play Devil's advocate, I'd love to hear any good things going on in SWG...

What are you still having fun doing???  Are you watching a slide-show from the lag?  Are you some Jedi-Yoda-Godfather?  What are you doing ?

Because I know I went from a +9.95 rating, to a -20 rating.  So did a lot of other people .....

Why are you still playing SWG?

Thank God for forums where we can all speak openly about our feelings about games.  I was looking for something to tied me over till the release of EQII.  Even tho I had heard some bad things about swg, i was contemplating getting it to keep me interested... glad I hit the forums first!!!

I played EQ for a little over a year.  Decent enough game.  After my personal SWG experience, I think I'm done with SOE products forever.  This is nothing more than a money milk using a LucasArts license to get a little more cash before the whole thing implodes.  They've lost my respect and my credit-card number forever.

    Well, I like it.

I play as a droid enginer.

The most bugged proff in the game.

    But
I play to have fun, not to go to lvl 99,9 image

    Im poor but happy.

I will play this at least until the space pack is out. I hope they fix little more intresting quests, but overall the game is good. Not great but good.

Exactly, that is why I stopped playing. It was not fun. The only thing I will miss are the kind people I met while playing the game who would give advice for new people and teach them about the game, and I made good friends. Regardless, the game design is very linnear divided by a line; entertaining simplicity is key. The developers masked a very tedious simple playing style with many professions and gaudy titles. You end up either hunting or crafting for a rigirous amount of time with the promise of power and mastery (FS slot in some cases) the 500th time you crafted that Basic Staff for one more box in GC. Power is the vehicle not the driver.

  • Hmmm.........

32 total votes on this tiny little 'representative' poll. That's what? .00000000000000000000000001% of the total players who have ever played this game?

BTW, how does anyone know if any of the 32 voters actually played SWG?

    300,000 players playing SWG.

Looks like most of the people who know for sure how nice this game is,

are busy having fun playing it.

    *applaudes motorhead*

I know the game is not to get to a high level... not a very hardcore game. But the thing is... no matter what i did i just could not have fun in that game.

I bet half of the people who play SWG have had no experience with other mmorpg's and don't know what true online fun is.

You run out of things to do very quick in the game, there is a lack of GOOD content.

The are working on it, maybe the game will be feature complete in a year and they can finally get some content in there.

So what, do you get extra lunch money every time you kiss this game's @ss

Because you are the worst example of a 'corporate mouth-piece' I have ever seen in a forum.

I like how you handled your reply. INstead of attempting to support or show how I'm wrong - you resort to name calling. Very construcitve, mature, fair, and a nice example more people should follow.

An example of a constructive, and mature post. No name calling. Just telling it like it is.

You admit you gave the game a try. You say you ultimatly disliked it. You show both sides of the problem you saw - lack of enough good content. But since the game is brand new, there's the chance of more content being added.

Its sad when ppl need to start name calling, and bring down the discussion to that lvl.

That behavior belongs to a 6 year old. Not someone older. And this is to ALL the ppl that nead to bash other ppls ideas by calling them names and insulting them a, even if they agree with ME.

     STOP IT NOW.!!!!!

That 300,000 player number was for the month of July, my friend.  In November, the numbers were at 25,000 and dropping.

I played sWG and I played it since beta2.

The game is like communism.  It looked good on paper, but sucked in practice.  What SOE did to make it worse was the lies they told to keep us in-game.  I wont go into those "lies" as everyone who played the game since June knows what Im talking about.

Me?  I stopped playing a couple months back and never thought about playing it ever again...or any SOE product for that matter.  When SOE has to lie to make a player stay, then none of their games will be good, imo

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

The sillyness of your quote speaks for itself LOL.

The game RELEASED in July. (technically near the last day of June. But July was it's first full month.)

The game only had 10 servers by the end of July. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for SWG to have 300,000 accounts in July LOL !

Right now, January 2003, SWG has 20 servers. It has been ADDING NEW servers.

The 300,000 mark was first announced IN November 2003. How do ya like that?

It was announced in the general press, at Station.com , and also at the official LucasArts site.

Right now SWG has closer to 335,000 accounts. And is still growing. And the game is only 6 months old. image

I want to post an interesting quote from the Jumpgate US forums that sort of applies to this type of thread and any other thread in any forum, for that matter. You wonder about your positive votes..
RockDoctor wrote:

People are alot more inclined to take the time to make negative comments than they would be to type something positive. If someone agrees with whatever it is you are saying, they probably wont feel the need to add anything seeing as it has already been said. Those that disagree or have a personal reason to be a jerk are far more likely to reply. Get used to it my friend and dont take the internet pubescents so seriously. Youll enjoy the forums alot more if you learn to laugh at them and move on.
I have been online a LONG time now.. and this is the best summary yet of how things happen in forums. Generally, with games, the more people post in a forum about said game, the less happy they are playing it. Most people in these forums are likely to make negative comments/votes/whatever. Some, like me, come to see if there's anything useful to sift out through all the piles of crap.. but for the most part, you're dealing with a bunch of people who came here because they saw it said "Star Wars Galaxies" on the forum section and they have some gripe to get off their chest about it.. regardless of whether they've actually PLAYED it or not. So don't be TOO surprised by your results. Garbage in, garbage out.

If you "HATE" the game, why are you even posting a poll about it? I *like* the game.. I don't *love* it, I don't *dislike* it, I don't *hate* it, and even I don't see a reason to post a poll about it? What's your angle here? Are you hoping enough other malcontents will justify your negative feelings about SWG by voting for the negative options in the poll? Well, you've come to the right place.. because forums are perfect for that.

If you were honestly interested in the reasons why people still play SWG, you'd shell out the money to access the game one more time and go in the game and ASK people.. because THAT is the accurate representation of the player base, talking to the actual players IN the game.. NOT a bunch of woe-is-SOE forum doomsayers who have nothing better to do than mouth off about SWG even though most of them have probably not found anything much better than SWG since they cancelled their subscriptions in the first month. (if they HAD found something much better, they wouldn't be habitually lurking forums like this looking to say anything bad about their old hangouts that they can say about 'em)

No, I am not some blind "fanboi" (what an ignorant term) of SWG. Hell, Star Wars isn't even my favorite sci-fi universe.. it ranks third behind Babylon 5 and the first three Star Trek series + the old movies. (all the ST stuff as one thing) Give me a decent Babylon 5 MMOG and THEN I'll rant as if they can do no wrong even if it has more bugs than all the versions of Windows put together.. but SWG? Nope, just something I still pay for, and marvel at the gall of all the people who DON'T pay for it but still mouth off about it as if they do, months after stopping their subs.

Let's see if you can answer this without resorting to flames/personal attacks/whatever. Do you actually have a point to this?

What a fantastic idea.  I think you're onto something here.

I bet if they packaged SWG with a few Ritalin included, players could stand playing the 'game' for a little while longer.  SOE might rake in a little more cash.

    Brilliant !

OK, let's put some perspective on this statement:

As of when I hit Quote on your post, you had a post count of 2. I see the other post is in another SWG-section thread, also bashing the game or attempting to.

What this means is, you signed up for MMORPG.com and headed right to the section of the forum about a game you apparently loathe, JUST to bash it.

That takes just as much if not a little more effort than just making "one more stupid CDEF".

The point: You people go out of your way to gripe and moan about games like this.. and then you are mildly confused at best, outright ignorant at worst as to why people treat you the way they do when you post. ("He disagrees with me, he must work for SOE!" or "What a fanboi!" No, the rest of us just aren't quite as irrational as you dedicated malcontents can be)

You want to know a better way of griping that doesn't make you stick out like a sore thumb? Find General Categories on the list on the left, and click on General Discussion, and do your damage there. It's where all games are either praised or flamed.. and it doesn't make you look like you went out of your way to be a malcontent. You can flame SWG (or any other game, for that matter) there just as effectively as you can here. Hell, more people might see your flames there.

I'm not kidding.. I'm not telling you people this in a condescending manner. I've established through past posts that I am neither a die-hard fan nor an avid hater of SWG.. so I hope that the fact that I am of a moderate view of the game will help make this advice easier to digest.

don't get me wrong, this has nothing to do with swg.  i personally had a lot of fun with the game for a while, but recently parted ways peacfully with it.

but...i have to say for being so critical of people posting their opinions (that are negative, i understand that), you sure have an awful lot of critical things to say about themimage

my point is, when you make a post about how much time people waste whining and k'vetching, make sure the post is short, otherwise you look like a hypocrite.

no, i'm not calling you a hypocrite.  i'm saying, you are awfully opinionated for someone so opposed to certain opinions.

that being said, i agree with almost everything you said.  especially the asking the players IN GAME what their thoughts and experiences are.  that is the player base.  me?  i'm the EX-PLAYER base now.  i understand this.  some dont.

what it all comes down to, is people can't get over things.  they hate the game so much that anyone who doesn't is a MORON.  so everyone starts picking sides and singling each other out like its REAL LIFE OR SOMETHING.  its a game!  so don't start picking people out or name calling or crap like that.  (negative i am not speaking directly to you at this point)

the irony is, i have both replied to someone directly and called them names in this single reply.  in this case, I am the hypocrite.  this was intentional, to help illustrate a weak point.

if you hate a game, and someone else loves it, why does that mean we have to be at each other's throats?

    Flon Gerg

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

  • Negative71Negative71 Member Posts: 162
Just out of curiosity: How is giving people honest and level-headed advice on A) their appearance when posting in certain places, and B) how to make their arguments more effective.. how is that being opposed to their opinions? Please, think a little bit more before you post next time.
