Hello everyone,
I played beta in Horizons for 3ish months.
My MMORPG history includes UO, EQ (still play), DAoC, Earth and Beyond, AC2, SWG and a few others here and there.
Horizons I found to be filled with promises but never really delivering. The best comparison I could make to a MMORPG I've played would have to be early AC2.
Horizons crafting system is very nice, but soon gets dull, and I felt that my crafting really only influenced the low end as Im one to want to spend some time adventuring as well.
Combat in horizons IMHO is the worst I've seen. It is lifeless, I played Tank type, I played cleric and a Mage (after server wipes i would start anew). There is no mana to manage, you cannot interupt spells, or be interupted, basically you hit cast and it autocasts til you or mob is dead
The world of Horizons is nice to look at, yet very very small . Also what frustrates me is the fact there are and according to David Bowman will be no dungeons present at launch!
Character models IMHO (again) were a bit clunky and lifeless all except Dragons which I felt were well done. No dragon flying was present in Beta and I wonder if it's part of release.
To close I guess I should say that Horizons is not a game I would buy/play and I would recommend to others not to waste the time/money. If you played AC2 and enjoyed it, well maybe you will like AC2.5...er Horizons
p.s the lag was horrible at most times many were in the same location. I hope this was due to testing and logging software not the actual game/net code
Edit: some things
