I had intended to hold off on making this post until after the holidays. On the one hand I have been insanely busy lately. I'm an engineering student, it's the middle of finals weeks, I'm sleep deprived, and I haven't even started my Christmas shopping. As a result, every time I write something and look back at it later I end up feeling like the caffeinated spider in this picture.
On the other hand, I figure that most of the community is in the same boat I am. With lives, families, and sadistic math tests of your own here in the middle of the holiday season, most of you probably have better things to do than research potential guilds for a game that has only just started beta.
However, seeing as we are now listed in two separate guild lists and our name is being spread, I feel the need to stand up and say a few words on our behalf.
And so- Hello.
My name is Fossa Ferox and I am the recruiting officer for Shinobi Order as well as the co-leader of our Vanguard contingent.
We are one of the older guilds that I have seen for Vanguard. We have been around for over four years and moved through several different games together. I'm not going to bore you with the details. If you are interested you can find our history on our guild website.
A great deal of information on who we are and what we are trying to accomplish in Vanguard specifically can be found there, actually. I apologize if any of it resembles the work of a particularly illiterate chimpanzee. I wrote the content of our new website in various stages of sleep deprival. At any rate, the information is there for those of you who care to look. My goal, as I said, isn't to bog you down with details in this post. Rather, I'm trying to pique your interest so you care enough to find out who we are and have some interest in joining.
So, we have been around for over four years. What does this mean in practical terms? Well, for one, our structure is pretty well established. Spectrum, the contingent's leader, and I have been working together through good times and bad. We know how to manage a guild. We know how to make a guild successful. We know how to lead raids, devise strategies, and take care of our member's needs in general. One of the two fundamental keys to having a successful guild is strong leadership, and we are very experienced leaders.
Equally, or perhaps even more important than a guild's leadership, however, is the sense of community that the members of the guild enjoy. We are going into Vanguard with approximately 20 existing members. Most of these members have been with us a number of years through several different games. As we open recruitment for our Vanguard contingent we are giving you the chance to join more than just a guild, we are giving you the chance to join a tight-knit community.
We are a mature group; most of our members are in their 20s or so. We are a diverse group; we have members from 6 countries on 3continents. We tend to use EST when coordinating things, but we tend to have members on at all hours of the day. We value excellence and we value fair play. Members must be competent in their various roles and they must play fairly and respectfully at all times. Anything else you could want to know about us can probably be found on our website. If I overlooked anything, by all means feel free to contact me with questions.
So thats who we are, what about our plans for Vanguard?
I don't have any elaborate plans to show off. I can not announce that we will be working in small squads or that we have an elaborate infrastructure set up to support our crafters and harvesters. On the contrary, I promise you that no such plans will be made until they can be made.
It is simply too soon to begin planning anything on a finite level. With so many details of the game unannounced or subject to change it would be foolish to lay down specific structures or systems. Instead, I promise that we know what we are doing and will have such plans as they become feasible. We currently have several ongoing discussions in our private forums concerning our plans for beta and release. As more and more concrete information is released our officers and leaders will turn those discussions into functional systems and rules. In the meantime, the preliminary information can be found on our website.
