Quick question about forceware versions

Does upgrading your drivers help out any on framerates? I currently have the 77.77 forceware version. If I upgrade to the 81.95, what exacly will it do?

Updating forceware or any graphics driver will usually not gain you noticeable FPS. In fact most times it doesnt improve the frames at all. Just adds more stability and fixes for specific games or programs.

The only time when it makes a big difference is if you are running a SLI rig, they optimize the games settings each time often getting alot more fps out of the SLI setup.

On a final note, from one version to another, lets say 1.01 to 1.02 you usually wont see much of difference but the more versions between updates usually you will see an increase performance.

Example

1.01 released in july 2004 to 1.02 released in august 2004 "little/no difference"
1.01 released in july 2004, to 3.01 released in july 2005, you will usually see a bigger difference because the improvements are incremental.

As for you specifically, the 77.77v to 81.98 there are a few versions inbetween them so yes, some improvement might be possible and its worth updating. If you dont know how to update them, just ask and someone here will answer.
