Are you kidding me?? Have you actually played L2 and SRO?? Those screenshots on this site don't really show the true graphic.

So basicly you mean this piece of ugly crap

You are making a funny joke here lol...

Pretty sure you only saw L2 and SRO from some players' low detailed bad screenshots.

I feel your pain ... seriously.

There seems to be this desire right now for people to find the next great game.

I would also be looking for 1) compellingly beautiful graphics (why would anyone want to play in an ugly, poorly designed gameworld?); 2) solo-combat-capable PvE (don't even want to hear this forced-grouping philosophy, except in the case of some high-level boss mobs or high-level "uber" quests); 3) large, seamless world (dungeons can be separate zones, of course) where you can actually get LOST; 4) PvP (not PK) available yet optional (Carebears make good crafters, so don't lets leave them out of the game).

    Just some thoughts:

Ye Olde Asheron's Call (for all its faults) had a large, seamless world, a zillion dungeons, huge wilderness expanses and was very solo-combat friendly.  YET, this game was one of the most social games I have ever played with some of the best grouping ever.  Forced-grouping does NOT make for socializing -- it makes for needy, dependent, weak avatars and a lot of grumpy people.

Some excellent PvP and/or RvR games have been made and I hope to see more of them.  I started my mmorpg-life as a PvE'er/Carebear and DAoC totally changed my mind about how much fun good PvP/RvR can be (not PK'ing with one-shot kills, ganking, griefing and looting -- PK'ing is anti-social and has nothing to do with PvP'ing).

Some games on the horizon may provide such entertainment, for which I would happily pay.  And some ... not.

Age of Conan -- I think there is no doubt that I will buy and play this game.  Only caveat is that the game might not provide as much longevity because of the ease of reaching max level (level 80) and overall content.  Game Devs have said: "designed for people who play 10 or fewer hours per week."  Not good since the average gamer plays 20 hours per week.  Not sure why they would want to shoot for the "below average" play-time when gamers really want a world they can immerse themselves in for long periods of time.  In all other respects the game seems extremely promising.

Hero's Journey -- Although a zoned and instanced gameworld, the game sounds very promising.  One to keep an eye on.  I might place this one on my "must play" list, but there is currently not as much game info available as I would like.  IMO, Simutronics does not make crap.  The "strategic combat" and excellent character customization sounds well developed.  Really hoping to do the beta test ... whenever.

Dark and Light -- An amateur effort doomed to be forgotten.  Earns #1 on the Biggest Let-Downs List.

Vanguard SoG -- Why would you want to create a "new" EQ?  Well, it's worth a look.  Very nice graphics.

D&D Online -- Probably a fun game for those who like pathetically weak, very dependent, non-soloable characters and doing the same instances ad nauseum.  For D&D fans, might be the perfect game however.

Darkfall -- Welcome to Griefer/Ganker heaven.  A potentially good game certain to be ruined by PK-style full looting.

Pirates of the Burning Sea -- Good if you want to "be" a ship and do naval warfare.  Fantastic graphics. Lots of PvP.

Lord of the Rings Online -- I think "no PvP" in a game all about "good vs. evil conflict" is wrong-headed from the get-go.  I suppose they will sell the name based on the brand name (remember how good SWG is? Not.)

RF Online -- Many people have already played this game, only it was called Lineage 2. Looks pretty though.

The Chronicle -- Errr, perma-death "main" characters? And that's fun because....?  Time will tell.

Ah, well, sorry to turn this into a mini-review, but once I started considering most of the candidates, things started looking pretty glum.  There are a few bright spots on the horizon.

And, btw, I am really bummed out that this winter is the first winter since 2000 when I am not actively playing a MMORPG.  That's just plain sad.

    More thoughts...

Age of Conan does sound like your best bet, but to add to the caveats the 1st 20 levels are going to be single-player. Levels 1 to 80 are all online, but the 1st 20 levels is going to be like a really long single-player tutorial so to speak. There is definitely going to be be raiding and sieging and whatnot in the end-game, so maybe if people blow through the 80 levels real fast it might still turn out well.

This the only forum I read often where most people seem to be really down on D&D Online, lol. I think Age of Conan looks a bit better (kinda early to say for sure tho), but I don't think this game is nearly as bad as people say. I didn't feel weak and I solo'ed every quest in the stress test, but hey, you'll have to see for yourself.

LOTR? Well the first thing that bothers me is there is no mounts at release. No mounts? the entire saga is all about your sword and your horse. How can I fight the good fight against the evil minions of Sauron and Saruman without my noble steed? What about the riders of Rohan? How can I destroy all that is good without my Worg? I could live without PvP at release, as long as they added it in later...but no mounts? Bah.

I like exploring/advanture/trip type of lvling.

Wish there is a "world" big and interesting enough to let ppl actually can do long term travelling without going through the same old places in ages, while lvling up at the same time.

All the MMO I tried so far are basicly the same old mindless grinding. I am sick of camping on the same spot killing 12513532523532 same mobs for each lvl. It's not I can't take it, I actually TOOK it, I have maxed lvl character in L2 with top gears with worth a lot. but I can't take it any more. pve is "most part" of the game of EVERY RPG game, and I want to have fun during this "most part" instead of mindless GRINDING during the "most part" while have a little tiny bit fun that almost don't exist during 1% or less pvp. The last game I tried is Shaiya, which turn out to be exactly the same old grinding type... You can see it with the first view of the game after log in...mobs are everywhere outside town with really fast respawn rate...I mean why borther...why all those MMO companies are copying each other with the same old grinding/camping type of game play simply with different graphic design and storyline...soon or later even the hardest Korean Grinders will get bored of the same old 1353235335 clone grinding games...

And I like good graphic, which is a very important fact. The only ones that I am pleased with graphic are Lineage 2 and Silkroad Online.

So I am trying to find a MMO with cool graphic just like L2 and SRO, while having interesting pve like Neverwinter Nights, and pvp enabled.

If you dont mind the graphics Id recomend AO for you. If you buy the 2 latest expansions graphics wont be that bad though.

It has the most advance gameplay of all the mmorpgs out now, the learning curve is insane so you would have to be patiant.

The pvp is very active, theres a "tagging" system in AO, if you attack a guard, you get a tag, anyone can now attack you. Anyone that does attack you also get this tag. So mass pvp battles spawns now and then.

non mass pvp is kind of exclusive though since you will need alot of money, experience and time to make a good character. Otherwise youll get ganked in about 2 seconds =)

You could get a game with really good graphics, but it could have a rubbish storyline. I think people are a bit too obsessed with graphics nowadays, dont get me wrong I like a game with good graphics, but im not obsessed like some people are ie getting the most up to date graphics card etc, way too expensive.

The best game ive played so far is WOW. But it can get boring quite easily.

Edit; Whoops you dont like wows cartoonish graphics (i think the graphics are good but anyway)
