I bought the game after iw been in the beta for about 2 weeks and i really tought that the game was fun. But what the heck. If u have a life outside the computer, how can u even play l2? dont understand.. grind. grind.. and was there some grind? There are some qs yeah, but are they funny naaa.. "Go get blade give to Guard get potion" " Kill 10 orcs get adena" sure the english is better then that.. but after a while in the game thats the feeling i get.. Kill Keltir, kill kill keltir.. And the pvp? wtf. i reached lvl 40 only but crap. click click click click click click click.. and noob n00b must be the most famous word in l2. XIE XIE RANG RANG comes second.
Please explain why u play and find the game so amusing! I wanna know so i dont judge all l2 players to eternal sex slave to Anthras..
Best regards

Well, it's always hard to follow both RL and Virtual Life when we are speaking about a MMORPG (in general). That depends on you. ATM I play L2 because I enjoy it, and because I have a lot of free time and in a near feature I will searching for a work. Then, I'll probably play only @ evening, but that can't stop my enjoy for this game anyway. There are many ppl that play only @ evening, with also fix parties (that means -> all finish work, etc.. etc.., login and play together).
That's all, and, enjoy.. cuz L2 isn't only grind.. grind.. grind.. men
..hax..
Im playing lineage2 cause i find it amusing, fun, for pvp and friends; well for a lot off resaons i dont have anyjob right now so i have lot off spare time, aldo i might get a job here the next 3 days if i do it won´t stop me from playing lineage2.
It would give me less time, but it dosen´t mean anything tho the Grind is long it dosen´t stop anyone i know from playing lineage2 haveing job and kids...
Why do you care?
Many people play many games for many reasons. Find one you like.....your description of the task fits EVERY other MMORPG out there. Period. All MMORPG "quest" are just dressed up kill task with a reward at the end. Technology doesn't allow for anything more dynamic at the moment. WoW is the exact same crap.
You played for 2 weeks and hit 40? Your a better player then me I guess
Community is subjective, sorry you met some rude players. There are many nice people and there are many jerks.....like in ALL MMORPGs.
Why do I play? Graphics are superior, classes are better then most, economy is challenging (the PvP isn't all that spectacular though, DAoC is better) Everything else is the same as all the rest of the junk out there. Go to WoW and kill 10 of X mob for a shinny reward or go to EQ2 and do the same for crunchy batwing pies (lol, I love the Devs who call that a "quest" I want that job!)
I play it because it is the most fun MMO I have played. That is why I still play it. The graphics and music are nice, and many of the core game components are great!
There is a grind, but I usually spend my time grinding by chatting with clan mates, and party members. Down time in a party dosen't last long if you get into a good conversation. This game is very social. I find the long grind is the best way to meet new people! Thats why I don't really mind it much. You meet so many other people out on the field and in dungeons that is what is great!
Open PvP. Yes, sometimes it can be annoying...but it adds a lot of excitement to the game.
Does the game have flaws...yes it does. For one, bots that farm adena and level characters for online purchase are a pretty big problem. Sometimes you will see TONS of them around. Do they hurt the game, most certainly...but I tend to look past it, and not get mad...because I am chillin with my online friends. The grind may be a bit too harsh, but like I said, it isn't bad if you find a nice group of people to play with. The economy makes it hard to get new gear. But there are certain quests that can make you enough money to get that next set of gear no problem. Also, you can play a dwarf...which can actually be fun sometimes.
So why I am still here, is probally because of the many great people I find in this game. A lot of older people play it, around age 20-30 which makes the community seem a bit more mature. Even the younger kids seem pretty mature. Granted, there will always be asshats in every MMO, but this game seems to have less than most.
Overall, a game that has a hook. A long grind...so it isn't for people with instant gratification.
Also, you just play at your own pace. I have played for over a year, and am still under lvl 50. I am a full time college student with a part time job, so that may have something to do with it...but really I just enjoy the game for the ride...
Sorry, i played the Beta for 2 weeks. then i played untill lvl 40.

Thank u guys for u answers.. I just think theres a shame that other games misses player to this game. And i THING, the controlls they are the worst thing. Yes, the quests are mutch like the other BIG mmo's, BUT then i mean BUT, the other games have a little depth in the questing, like WoW with the 14q followup and so on. And as alomst all of u sad was that u started playing the game cuz some friend said "Wow, l2 has great grapichs" YES thats the big thing about l2, it has great player textures, but no more.. the cities feels empty some how.. feel like a desert some, the Npc could just stand randomly in this desert.

You didnt play long enough, or experiance any clan interactions if thats the way you feel. I wish games like WoW would go away so Lineage could get more attention. I work full time and only get to play at night, and i still do pretty well for myself in game, you dont have to play 18 hours a day to be successful.
There is more depth to L2 but you have to look for it. Most people who play the game dont bother listening to the little tid-bits the NPC's give you, or the background stories/info on the main site. The ones that do, actually understand why some things are the way they are lol
Damn, I wish the towns where empty!
Some of these place are so full of "shops" you can hardly walk through them. NCSoft definitely needs to look at how the shop system is executed.
Although, I like the shop system as I am making a TON of money in it, it has 2 problems
1. No log off shops, that means you need to stay logged on to sell your stuff. This just makes it difficult to log on. TEON is ALWAYS full.
2. A designated place for the shops. All these people sitting everywhere like the stairs and at the teleporter just stinks.
My solution would be a large building (call it a shopping center) with concession merchants you can place/hire to sell your stuff for you. (maybe for a percentage charge or a base fee)
To the OP, why is it you are bring this up now? Have you played chronicle 3 at all? Are you familiar with the current state of the game? The games been out for 2 years and you are just now bringing up your pre-chronicle 1 opinions??? Are you aware that chronicle 4 is on the way?
Why not just load it up and check it out? I guess I'm curious as to why you are posting here...obviously people who post here like and enjoy the game.
I just think theres a shame that other games misses player to this game
What you saying here? Its a shame we are playing this game? Are you here to save our souls?
here is an idea...
Here is a list of why I play Lineage 2: (in no particular order)
1. There are no instances. This is a true dynamic world.
2. The expansions for Lineage 2 are every bit as impressive as the expansions for other games . . but the expansions for Lineage 2 are free.
3. I like that there is a limit to how many people you can have in your clan/guild. A level 4 or 5 clan (5 is the max) can have up to 40 players in it. That's it. This means more thought toward your clan, rather than forming a mindless zerg.
4. The intensity of the PvP. From castle sieges to fighting for clan hideouts to fighting for your clan or simply a place to hunt. This game can be intense. But the world is so big that if you choose not to PvP, you generally don't have to worry so much about it.
5. This is a game made for hardcore players. I hate playing casual games in which you can get to the end-game so easily.
6. Graphics are amazing. For the most part, the best I have seen to date.
7. The friends I have made. Lots of great people play this game.
8. Customer support. Some people have complained about it, but they have been great to me. I got hacked in a major hack scheme with hundreds of other players. Customer Support had us back on our feet in a matter of days.

Wow, your view of this game is as about outdated as the review on this website. Have you played this game within the last year? ACTUALLY have you ever played this game?
Haha, a shame that other games miss out because of this game? I think it is a shame that this game misses out because of other games.
I love point and click! Played all my RTS like that, and 90% of my RPGs...like Neverwinter Nights. The only games I don't play like that are FPS (for obvious reasons) and I don't really care much for those games anyway.
I played WoW, there really is no depth...and it is like freaken reroll city, people make player caps so fast and reroll so fast... The quests are 95% the same, you just get better rewards for them, than in Lineage 2.
Everybody really starts playing a game nowdays, because it looks good! Wonder why RF Online is one of the most anticipated games comming up? IT'S BECAUSE IT LOOKS GOOD! Other than that people will just go for any consumer marketing...saying wow...lookie at that advertisement. Then they jump on the bandwagon with everybody else and go play it.
The cities are not empty...at least if you got past level 30, which I don't think you actually did...because you have no idea what you are talking about.
Wanna know something. Lineage II is the most popular MMORPG in the WORLD! More than WoW! Granted Asia makes up most of L2's subscriptions. But most games come from Asia anyway...remeber Nintendo, Sega, Sony...ect. ect.
If you don't like it fine! But don't post it here. Post it on a unoffical L2 fansite or something. We don't need new players to read your nonsensical garbage, along with the garbage that is supposed to be this games review. And along with 90% of the other OUTDATED reviews on the web, which are from prelude, beta, and chronicle 1. This game has improved.
Actually I what got me to really play this game over others were the free expansions, not the great graphics. See, before I didn't EVER belive in paying a fee to play a game, but I convinced myself that with the free expansions, it was like just buying a new game every 6 months, and not actually paying to play.
lineage2 has quests with 9 or more follow ups but thats only for Non Repatlbe quests but thoes are also worth the time when you get the final reward...
most lineage2 fan sites hasent updatet they quests, heres a good one just to count the quests
http://www.lineage2.dk-unit.dk/modules.php?name=Level_15-40 aldo i think a few might be missing...
It s a dreamy world. The design , the art int he game is overwhealming. begining with the beautifully crafted armors and sowrds, the way characters look, the gorgeos world around you, it s a dream. The gameplay, well, it s more then good, but like in many other mmorpg s is the comunity u play with makes the game really interesting.
Listen to this: 01 The Call of Destiny http://www.lineage2.com/pds/pds_music.html THis is Lineage II.

1)Freedom:If you get mad at someone for ksing or just being annoying, it can be taken care of without having to go to a certain place to do fight !
2)Like above, PvP is amazing, guilds and alliances make PvP intense and very common!
3)Many races and classes to choose from!
4)A LOT of land to explore and seige!
5)Grouping is fun in this game(or maybe it seemed like that since my RL friends played too).
6)Graphics are great making PvP look sweet
7)Characters with amazingly sweet dual swords are fun to have .
Things that could improve:
1)Cheating/exploiting Amount
2)Maybe some more lower level content(I don't know, maybe some more dungeons or something) to bring some new players in
That is about it.
Also, I have a life outside the computer(my highest level char was 33 and I have played off and on since North American Closed Beta, had many chars on different servers though(but the second highest one was lvl 21 lol)). I am not playing right now but hopefully will in about 5-6 months. When I mean off and on, I mean I subscribe for like 3 months but only play 1-2 months of it and then quit for like 3-2-4 months and come back on a new account.
