Losing faith? A little.

AvarielAvariel Member Posts: 24

I wanted a decent MMORPG that I could play so I could team up with friends, and have the scope for so much more than other MMO's offered.

I am one of the many of us who have kept the faith in the game despite these problems. However my faith is slipping a bit. I'm far from impatient, however I thought that SOG was going to keep me busy with my friends till D&L came out. At the moment however we simply cannot team together with all these problems, and I miss them.

It's not so much the problems although they are frustrating, it's the lack of communication, I cannot read something and think 'ahhh ok, they are on it'.

I guess the real issue is, I want to be playing an MMO with my friends, with SOG as it is I can't, either I can't get on, or they can't get on. And then you look at how far D&L is away from release, and my slipping faith is thinking will it be ready in that time?

And you look around and see that 'finished' MMO's that offer 'similar' things are out in a month or two. The faithful part of me who's followed the game for years wants to stick with the game, the part of me that misses playing with my friends and having a really good time is looking elsewhere.

I'm split, and I don't want to be.

    Nice to hear your thoughts.

My feeling is because this game is in development and may take a long time to get to the point you want to play(although I have been seeing rapid improvement now), I would not stop myself hanging with friends over it. If the game does well it will still be here as the months go by, just revisit once in awhile, but get on with what makes you happy, life is so short.

I'm losing alittle faith, I don't play SoG very much, but I still plan on checking it out when its released.

    My opinion matters to everyone...

I pretty much gave up on it last May, but still will follow it just because of the time I have already devoted over the years to it. I figure by April it will be dead as a doornail or the will pull a miracle patch out of their pooter.

If I had a pioneer key though I would have already gotten by money back and just sit back and wait on another freebie key round.

    I miss DAoC

I did get one of those freebie SoG keys, but I've not played since the second or third day. It was truly bad. I was a bit surprised considering how long DnL has been in development. I understand they say SoG is not DnL, but I think it's unrealistic to believe that. I'm not sure if I'll keep up with it much... I seem to have lost interest since all the Pioneer/SoG hoopla. I'll take another look when it's released but, to be honest, I don't hold out a lot of hope that this game will amount to much. :::^(::

I agree with blacksac. Play with your friends. That is more important. You owe the game or its developers nothing.

Like you I am split. Rather I was in two minds. What made my mind up was not what SoG is technically at this point, but rather the lack of communication from Farlan and what I consider to be some really stupid marketing moves along with some, at best, dubious business pratices. Warning signs flashed for me big time therefore I got my refund.

I still hope that the game reaches at least some way to fruition but I cannot see a company that will not even communicate adequately with its own PR company, and other folks important to the game development, pullling it around in anywhere near four months. I'll drop in and check SoG every so often but my hopes for this one really are on the wane.

I also agree with jackdog. If you paid get a refund now while you can. All you lose is a few perks if the game does come good. If it doesn't then you are out sixty dollars. If you have a free SoG place check it out now and again.

In the meantime play something with your friends that gives *you* enjoyment. Again blacksac is right, life is too short not to be having fun. ::::31::

From the sounds of all the reviews I have read.  It hasn't improved at all since last June when I was on it.

I think one hell of a lot of the griefing would have been avoided if Farlan had communicated more with the community. So I agree with everyone here :P

Still I'll stick with my pioneer key through all the shinanigins because I want to see DnL succeed. It might crash and burn come April (or whenever it's released) but then I'll only be out 60 bux image

Second only to a POS game, Farlan's lack of communication has been a severe problem.  AD is their North American agent, so to speak, and even they don't know wtf is going on over at Farlan.

+1 to the legacy (utter failure?) of DnL.
