What a great way to start the New Year!

We've hit a big milestone for UltraCorps: the first big, open
alpha-test with the new codebase is starting now. India is a circular galaxy
with spaces for 393 players. It will lock when it's full, or after the
first tick (10 pm Jan. 2). There will be 20 turns, ticking nightly at
10pm.

There are 393 positions (player homeworlds) available in the game. One
position per player, please! There will be no quitting and rejoining;
it will not be possible to join the game after the first tick. (But
there may be another test game starting before India ends.)

The game will be 20 turns long. The first tick will be at 10pm (Central
Time) Monday, January 2. The game will tick every 24 hours after that,
which means that turn 20, and the game, will end at 10pm Sunday,
January 21.

This game has no economy . . . all unit prices are fixed. Nobody worlds
will start off with more population than they had in VR-1 games, to
help players expand quickly.

Score will be based on number of worlds owned, but we are working on a
more sophisticated scoring system and may patch it in partway during
the game just to see how it works.

We'll send a questionnaire afterward. We would appreciate it very much
if everyone would fill it out to help us improve play!

UltraCorps is played via web browser, and requires JavaScript. It will work on IE 5 or later, Netscape 6 or later, Mozilla, Firefox, and any browser that supports the W3C DOM .
