Hi all
Just finish reading most of the official UXO page and couldnt find any info about crafting or player houses (maybe im blind) and was wondering if anyone here has any info.
Also it was a sad discovery that tamer isnt included, its fun to chase bulls or drag your stubborn dragon along Sheperd (cant type it) looks to be closest to tamer but it sounds like they dont have pets but just summon them, keeping a pet is little more challenging than just summoning one when you need it and if you have a pet for a long time you start to care about him, with summoned pet if he dies then who cares. + its totally unfair that those bloody bards are in
Have fun

Crafting is not planned. *shrugs* They may add it later, who knows. What they do have, is a system of placing gems and things inside slots of swords, etc. to enhance the item.
As far as housing. I "think" I remember reading that it won't be available. But again, I may be wrong, and if it's not available, they may add it.
You're right in both cases. They will start UX:O without crafting (except imbuing weapons) and housing.

It looks like they dont want people to move from UO to UXO, greedy bastards (BTW im still mad that UO2 got canned )
Anyways if its their goal then they are doing great job, i really dont know many people from UO who would like UXO more than UO.
just an fyi...wanted to chime in to see if anyone caught the interview with the UXO designers amy morgain and jon hanna on rpgvault...it covers a good deal of the magic-related parts of the game, you guys (and gals?) should check it out....
http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/442/442713p1.htmlI cant wait for uxo personally...
I'm not trying to sound rude or condescending, so please don't take my following comment that way. If they did release UXO with taming, crafting, and housing then wouldn't it just be a remake of UO? That is not in any way, shape, or form what they're going for here. UXO is based on the original Ultima series of single player games, not based on UO, which was only a slight bit related to them. UO's common factors with the Ultima series is pretty much the name only, the world and cities share the same names and such, but really nothing as far as content.
UXO's goal is to create your heroes and ascend them to Avatar status to help in the fight against the Guardian, crafting and the like just don't fit into the purpose of it. This is rounding out to be a combat game, not a sim such as UO.
If you really enjoy UO, that's great, but please don't expect UXO to be the same and please let's not turn it into a copy of it.

I have to say I disagree to some extent. I can see your point, and it's a valid one, tho I can see the argument for/against crafting/houses going either way. Granted, according to the lore/story, yes, we the heros are trying to ascend to Avatar status to face the Guardian etc... But do heros not live anywhere? Will we be working on ascendign 24/7 with never a break to sleep? (speaking theoretically from the view of said heros, not our RL selves). Heros in any great story always have a place they call home, granted the amount of time they spend out questing and saving the world FAR supercedes the amount of time they spend in said house, but they still have one. As for crafting, I feel it should be in there, not just because I am a crafter by nature,. love a good tradeskill system in a game more than anything else (3 LGMs in DAoC and a triple Master Crafter [AS, WS and Tailor on one toon] in SWG) but because I can see how they would fit into the story just as easily. Yes, the story is primarily about heros and reaching Avatar etc, but crafting could be sideskills, not saying I would like to be able to ascend as solely an Armorsmith, but make it so it's something you can do on the side, cause heros do in fact need equipment, or well, their reign as hero will be cut rather short.
Anyway, there's my $.02, possibly a bit biased because I enjoy crafting, and while I am anticipating this game more than any other game coming out, it definitely saddens me that there is no current plans for crafting. I'll prolly play the game either way, but would MUCH prefer if there were a tradeskill system.

While crafting is fun for some, we are supposed to playing heroes in UXO and if you want to get into the reality of it, not many heroes of old actually knew how to craft their own weapons and such, they bought them from the people who spent their life learning the trades. I reiterate, that is what the NPC vendors will be for and the loot we find off the mobs.
I must admit that I would be seriously disappointed if crafting were ever implemented beyond what it is already planned and I would see that as the beginning of the turning of UXO into a UO clone.
I agree on the crafting really, as much as I would love to see a nice crafting system in the game, would make it complete for me, but like I said, i'm biased, I'm a crafter by nature. But I still see no reason for housing to not be included.

Plain combat gets boring pretty fast, no matter how cool the system is. Lets assume you get the avatar and level him up, what are you gonna do with him? He is just some homeless bum, ok you can solo PvP or use him in guild battles. But what is the goal? Why are the guilds fighting, theres no land or castles to gain.
I just dont like the idea of gain levels to gain more money to buy better gear to gain levels and money faster to get better gear faster.
I dont have anything against UXO and i will propably play it but the question is how long can it stay interesting.
