Snipers?!

Ok, I see myself coming back to WWIIO for my 4th time. But what??? Snipers?!

I remember when you'd use ironsights to make a 400 meter snipe. How exactly does this addition help and affect the game? Surely city defence is even MORE grinding and slow with more accurate, longer shots that can cripple an infantryman in one hit? What about Lufflys? Has CRS improved them so a rifle shot in the wheel won't immobilize it?

Most snipers are too scared to use them because they might die. Seriously, I've seen snipers hiding while a battle rages because they don't want to risk using a unit that is very rare.

Normally when I grab a sniper I find a spot that will enable me to shoot at lots of people. Sometimes I'll be dead in a few minutes or dead in an hour.

I mainly find them useful for ATG and AAA killing. Killing infantry? Easier to grab a rifle and get in close.

It hasn't changed the gameplay much, if anything. As you said, the good riflemen don't need a scope to take out the enemy at distance.

Ive been back for a little over a week and can tell the sniper rifle has had little to no impact on the game. There was and still is plenty of good marksman that don't need a scope.

Historically, snipers were rarely a true cause of heavy casualties in the battlefield.  Good tactics always overcame such threats.  Snipers have always been more of a psychological weapon than anything else.   I do agree that too many FPS games give snipers too much power.   Fortunately, this game seems to be well balanced and true to unit tactics.  Any decent team should be able to dispatch a sniper if they keep their wits about them.
