Could a game like Spore be the next MMO step?

With the way players eat up content for MMO's it's really getting annoying listening to all the, "there is nothing to do after 60" and the "the end game sucks"

Spore is not an MMO, but do you see the ideas that have been applied to this game making it's way into the MMO genre.

I personaly think that this is indeed the future of what games should be.

The ability to create your own experience far surpasses the "gimme more stuff to do" method.

Please take some time to read up on what this game is going to bring to the table. I don't think any of you will be bored by any of these reads.

Then think about the possibilities of what is essentially a Dev kit for the people and how it will effect Online Gaming.

Thanks

    I know I know :(

My main point was the ideas behind the game and the player created content.

EA is a publisher and does not develop spore.

Don't see why soo many people blame EA that the devs have an ego the size of PM's

The problem with games like Spore becoming an MMO is that there's TOO MUCH control given to the player.

People always say "I want open ended gameplay!"  They want games like Fable where you can kill NPCs.  They want everything to be able to be destroyed.  They want this and that and blah blah blah.  But the problem is that it'd never work.  And for many reasons.

For one griefers alone would make it pointless.  All you'd have to do is sneeze in the direction of some annoying guy who lives his life on a PC and it could ruin every second of your gameplay.  Everytime you log on your house is destroyed.  Your things are constantly stolen.  Ect ect.

The LAST thing you want is players to have too much control.  People don't roleplay.  They don't stay in character 100% of the time if they do.  So it'd never be as fun as Spore or any of these other games as a single player game.

The community itself would have to be insanely mature to be able to handle that much control.

Player created content will be one of the next big things in MMORPGs, Ryzom already has its Ryzom Ring player created scenario tools in player alpha testing. I doubt it will be long before others follow
