RuneScape

I'm new to this website, but definetly not new to mmorpg's.  Ive played many different ones but RuneScape is the only one that kept me playing for more than one months.  Many people are insulting it and i bet i know why.. People don't know how to play or they do and dont want to be called a noob.  So I'm posting this to say give RuneScape a chance or at least git past lvl 15 and you'll see its fun.image

Runescapes is fun just for a while I guess, then it just gets boring unless you become a member, then it still gets boring but not as fast. For a free mmorpg it offers alot of skills but after I got to lvl 43 I became really bored of it, It doesn't compare to the p2p mmorpg's that most of us in these forums play. It's a good time waster for about a month if you ask me.

I got a lvl 69 account and was member for 2 months. The game is getting boring after completed quests etc.. If u got high skills arround the 50 u dondt want to train anymore because it cost to much time to get leveld. And there are many scammers and hackers in the game wich make the game awfull. And when u get member the game is to big. When u got member u think ahh lets go to (as sample) The Fishing Platform. Finaly after a long way walking u come there but u need to do a questimage and to do that quest u need other quests etc.. So runescape is boring. If u wanna make fun in the game then go to a runescape clan, they got many events.image

Runescape was actually the first (and up till now only-oneimage) MMORPG I've ever played. In two periods of about 4 weeks (between this periods I was very bored of the game after spending hours of mining etc.), I reached lvl 68 without being a member.image

Unfortunately, even smithing becomes boring after a while, so now I'm in search of a new MMORPG. This is what brought me to this site in the first place.

Anyway, I think it's a great game, especially for a free MMORPG. However, I dont think I would want to pay for what you get when you become member (few more quests and some extra skills). I would rather search a new MMORPG, because Runescape-membership only offers more of the same.

BTW: Runescape is taking heavy measures against bots. They recently banned 15000 accounts, and eversince I haven't seen a bot anywhere anymore. And for traveling long distances they invented teleporting image

Of course RuneScape rocks, who wouldnt like it?? I myself am bragging about me beating dragon slayer at level 46 today with a rune battleaxe. I'm level 48 with full rune now. But runescape totally needs a forum of its own on this site!! It could be the best online game ever created( and by could I mean is)!!

runescape is a great game, community is... ok

it didnt have a lasting appeal to me, pretty amazing because of the fact that you didnt need any software/hardware.

the main reason so many people play the game is how easy it is to access. anywhere that has a web browser and java(i dont think you even need java) you can play it

theres just so many other games that you could play imho

If Jagex has done anything right, then it's weekly content updates. No other game offers that (as far as i know)

Make of it what you will.

    -free

    -dont have to download anything

-dont have to buy a newer graphics card, because graphics are to thick

I played RuneScape for some time and then quit rather recently. Here are my problems with it:

    1. Skill grind gets too annoying around level 50-70 in any given skill, except maybe combat. Before that it is probably tolerable.

    2. For the huge amounts of xp you need at high levels, there isn't really any payoff. Sometimes there isn't anything. 90 (about 6,000,000 XP in a skill) to 99 (the cap, about 13,000,000 xp). There isn't really much of anything you can do with those levels and you need to more than double what you've already earned.

    3. No keyboard support. Horrendously annoying to have to click everything. People actually complain about the size of the world (its easy to walk from one end to the other in about 15 minutes) I think because of this.

    4. No trickle-down complexity. Having 99 strength doesn't effect mining or smithing at all, in any way. That seems weird to me. You have to grind straight through everything.

    5. No healing/buffing other players, this seems completely wrongheaded and goes with my final point. I can't guess why this is left out.

    6. No team/guild support at all. In order to communicate with Guildies you better all get on a chatroom or something. Otherwise you only have PM's and vicinity chat. There isn't any way to have loot order either, whoever inflicts the most damage gets the loot. So people are more than willing to KS and/or ninja expensive items. The only thing they've done is add some mini-games that require multiple players. The only other thing you can do is wear these capes that'll turn people green on your radar (however, anyone and everyone wearing that style of cape will be green on the radar).

If they actually added some teaming/guilding, really solid aggro-management (or team heals/buffs, or team bonuses, or anything that would make teaming up worthwhile), and some of the instancing they promised I might ignore my other problems and go back. They promised at least two of those things almost 2 years ago.

yea i agree with what you mostly pointed out. but the statement still stands.

is there a ''free'' game that you '''dont have to download anything''' and that's better than runescape ?

if it exists i havent found it.

but if you get bored of runescpae you either

    a) need to play other games

    b) need to havemore of a life and leave your computer for a while.

i played runescape for 2 years. 1st char got to lvl 110, got hacked so i stopped a while, second got to 78...and i quit... Runescape is a great MMORPG, only, alot of people compare it to Wow or Guild wars, which makes it look a bit puny...

Runescape is a very cheap game to play, 5 euros per month, so it is mostly played by the people that cant afford better. Usually those people are kids from 10-14 years old who can sometimes be very immature....

You download things in RuneScape anyway. Windows users can check C:WINDOWS.file_store_32 for some of the stuff RS uploads. Also you need the JRE too.

I think Runscape has alot more features than both wow and GW,  I know the graphic is sooo bad but with decent graphics this game would own wow any day.

in runescape you can loose all your stuff in pvp and it can take weeks to replace,  in wow it take 1 sec then you back out pvp,  how fun is that ???

it is like UO in a MUCH smaller version,  I still think UO is the nr 1 and there are no 2 so far.

    Sorry for my english
