Hey guys, sorry if this has already been posted buuuut..

is this game going to have a monthly fee? If it does we can almost be certain its gonna be the "$15 a month deal". I'm really looking forward to this game.. though I can't afford to pay the 15 (like 24 for me, I'm australian) a month! So lately I've been playing all the free korean mmorpgs, which are just as good! I've got my sightes set on SUN: Soul of the Ultimate Nation. so anyway, any reply is appreciated!

When we first start talking about a new MMO here at MMORPG.com, one of the first questions that some of our readers ask is “Will there be a monthly fee”? If yes, could you give our readers an idea of exactly why a monthly fee would be required?

Michael Rowland:

Indeed there will be a monthly fee for RF online. The money from the fee is used to pay for the costs of hosting the service required for an MMO. With a full time team maintaining the servicing of the servers, providing customer support on and off line, a GM team providing regular events, plus the cost of developing the title further for the updates and content upgrades, there is a lot of cost involved. More than most realize when catering for such a huge number of players.

Heheh, take into consideration the breadth of subscribers that'll be playing the game. Thousands of gamers all pitching in their $15 comes up to quite a pretty penny @ the end of the month.

But if the charge is to high and its not a good game the get 1000000 the first month and 1000 left to pay the second month

I'll happyly pay £10 a month subscription fees for RFO think thats about $17 and at a push £15 ($25 ish)

It'll be the standard rate that you'd pay for most MMO's these days, the cost of a beer and kebab if you must

I can sacrifice that to play the game...and in some ways the game is helping me become healthier by preventing my unhealthy binges. How life changing

i hope u all have seen the poll about costs at codemasters forum ?
if not, then i'll tell that over half voters won't pay more than 10-12$
there's too big competition at the mmorpg market to pay incredible prices
(like almost 17€ for EvE - paranoic)

If you think about it 15$ a month isnt all that much. I would gladly pay that for entertainment. Considering before I got into MMO's. I was spending on avereage 50$ a month for a new game that would come out. Now I only pay 15$ a month for a year or so until I get tierd of the current MMO Im playing or I see better potential in a new one coming out.

i agree ^^^^^^ any way this game seems to have soo good graphics i could just kill myself im buying a new comp so i can play it WHICH IS OVIOUSLY MORE THAN 15$ but its worth it

But most MMOs are around 15 bucks, I think that's fine.

For CoH/CoV I pay 15 bucks a month.

But if it were to be around 10-12, then I'd be much happier.

Well... eve seems to keep those who truly fall into its clutches... i for one escaped... but only because i didnt find a good guild. this however might have stolen my interest anyway.

I can not understand why there would not be a change in the price of the monthly rate, acually. If I were one of the people who ran a MMORPG like this one I would have the price high at first, since how else are you going to pay the people who manage it, but then I would lower it over time to attract more customers. So it might start at 15 and then gradually go down to 10 with the more cutomers.

I learned that idea in a game believe it or not... something called supply and demand

Well, the answer the marketing guy gives is just a politic answer. All u guys who pre order the game don't even now the monthly rate yet... What if those guys ask for 25 Euro a month? 

I don't get all the secrecy about this topic. I'm sure those guys at Codemasters know how much it will cost to keep there servers up and running and afford to develop the game further. So, why don't they tell the public what the rate will be?

This is my opionion so do not take it seriously. I think they might have a high monthly rate in the beginning when the game has just started, but then by the end when they get a lot of people on their servers they will make it cost effective and small again. Probably in the region of $14.99 as almost all MMORPG's have it like that.
