About to buy this but...

About to buy this but wanted to ask current players who are in the know, this game isn't going to die a death like Asherons Call 2 is it? I mean those who currently play are you seeing a healthy amount of players staying and new players coming in, or is it a ghost town?

I don't want to get it only to find a couple of people playing and then the game collapse in a month.

Is it going to survive? If the answer is yes I will be joining tommorow. :)

I normally like to start an MMORPG in it's early days so I can be there from the beginning. However there is nothing really on the market to emulate Ulitma Online which I was a fan of but I heard EQ2 was the closest match. Basically I want to craft craft craft.

Did look at getting DAOC but crafting really isn't a stand-alone thing there, WoW from what i've heard is just for kiddies who like screaming at each other in some strange language Leet speak or something *shudder*. And the other good looking MMO's are not out yet, so thought i'd give EQ2 a try. I heard EQ2 is for the more, long-term and mature player.

The game will be arround for a long time.

Also if your intent is to become a crafter you can advance your crafting levels independant from your adventure level so you can cap out your tradeskill without advancing past lv 6 as an adventurer.  Granted you would need to buy all your raw material off the broker but you can do it.

The game will survive, sure there isn't so many players. but it is NOT a ghost town. + more people are coming in everyday (and ppl will probably RUSH into it when PvP arrives)

If you like advanced crafting (and not the WoW style of crafting) you will LOVE this game. i'm having soooo much fun with my Weaponsmith :)

P.S. This is the best MMORPG out there (at least of all the game i've played) .. Played: DAoC (which had cool PvP... or RvR as they like to call it)
WoW (shitty game... grinded 2characters to lvl 60)
    UO (pre-trammel)
    Tibia
    Runescape (hehe)
    Lineage 2

One last question then. Were I to make a crafter and really work hard on getting high level at it, is there still a market out there for selling stuff or is it saturated? I mean can I make a living selling things to other players? Would they even buy my stuff, ie is player created stuff better than found items?

    Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah also can I own property, like a house or a shop?

No the market isnt saturated, I made a carpenter on an alt (which is the usless of the crafting trees you make usless stuff for peoples homes) and easly made several gold in one night selling the lowest teir furniture hehe. Now I cant speak for other servers but Lucen D'Lern servers seems to lack crafters on the freeport side, I was willing to spend up to 5 gold for a low level weapon and couldnt find one. Although theres no lack of sales on the Qeynos side either which Im on now.

Cool so you would suggest I goto the Lucen D'Lern server then?

That just happens to be the one Im on, The Antonia Balye server has the most people from what I hear. But both Lucan and Antonia are RolePlaying servers (although alot of people dont RP on them although if you want to you can always find RP guilds on them). Im not really sure what the best server is but I guess if you want to have a larger market it would be better to go to a larger server. Im pretty new to the game as well. Im not sure I could really tell you where you would have the best chance of selling your stuff.

I would wait for PvP servers if you dont mind that sort of play, so you can start at an even playing field with the rest of the people on your server.

But if you go PvP dont go to the EXC pvp server, becuase that is exchange, and people there buy gear and gold online as well as transfers, and that is not an evil playing field.

The new EQ2, better than ever befor !
