re-activation

Hey, just a few questions id appreciate answered:

I heard that if you reactivate your account you get a trial period free, is this true, and if it is did I miss the date?

Also, if I do reactivate my account, once characters are deleted are they gone forever or will I get my character back?

thanks.

As long as you cancelled before the 15/11/05 you will have a free 15 day trial.  You don't need to resubscribe to get it, all you need to do is re-install the game (if you don't have it installed anymore), log into Launchpad using your original account details and then the trial begins.  You get access to everything you had before (and now JTL as it's free).

If you deleted your character at the login screen thing before you quit then it will still be gone, you'll need to make a new one.  If you simply just cancelled the account, your old character and all his items should still be there.

Heh!  Most of these "SWG Haters" like you say, deleted their characters because of the NGE.  Care to elaborate on what has actually changed since the NGE rolled out????

    - Shoot through friendlies (made a BIG difference)

    - 2nd (or 3rd in some cases) character slots

    - XP for Kashyyyk quests

    - Quest fixes

    - Many item fixes

    - Harvestor purge

Those are the things that I found have been changed/added and helped since the NGE was released :)

Shoot through friendlies was a very poor implementation of something SOE has already used in its other games for a long time. It is half-baked and a bandage style fix for a combat system that isn't completely thought through and half baked as well. I was actually fairly dissapointed when they announced shoot through friendlies as the fix to all the issues with their wonky new combat system.

Do jedi with double bladed lightsabers still have twice as abig of a target box as everyone else? Another example of the lack of pre-development planning that went into the NGE.

I really wish they would add a dungeon in the spirit of EQ 1 or 2 into SWG so everyone could see all the faults of the NGE's combat system in an MMO completely. I would love to see the adds and trains that would have to be dealt with using the shoot through friendly feature. I was grateful I was melee for my time in it so I didn't have to worry about everything known to man adding, just stuff that walks through the fight that I am in the middle of.

I don't see the problem with it, it does as it intends to do?  How would you have liked it done?

Before that patch it pretty much meant that you couldn't do melee while in a group and made completing instances (or dungeons as you may like to call them) hard when only half the group members could actually shoot/hit the target.  Now though, you don't have to worry about it, you can use melee weapons if you like and not have to worry about being in the way of your group mates.

That is how FPS combat should be done. Not this half-baked crap they slapped into SWG.

Simple, not come up with a combat system that tries to make an MMO that has mobs play like a first person shooter where everything is either friendly or foe without aggro. In battlefield 2 or any similar game if you shoot at crowd you hit the whole crowd, which is usually good unless its your own men but friendly fire is appropriate in that game. In SWG you have mobs that don't attack until attacked or close enough yet you have a half-assed targetting system with no ability to aim or zoom and the ability to have "adds" aggroed.

It doesn't work and the NGE is the perfect example of that. IF SOE and LEC want FPS style combat so bad then take out all the mobs and just have the PvP and THEN use the Planetside system instead of the mess they have now. Just reskin planetside to rebels and stormtroopers and wala, you have the NGE done properly which honestly sounds a HELL of alot better and more "star warsy" then what they have come up with now.

Shoot through friendlies was in game way before the NGE.

As for the quests fixes.....image there are still a lot of bugs in quests that they need to work on. The fixes that went out yesterday was just a small portion of what they need to address. And. are all those fixes working?

Literally shooting through friendlies was yes, but that is not what we are talking about. What we are talking about is being able to target something you can't see because a friendly is blocking your view which is completely different then what was already in the game.
