Remember the days...

...when we actually got weekly pictures?  Those were the days :(

As if the naysayers in the Gemstone community weren't enough to turn me away from this game... the recent lull is pushing me further and further away daily.

Bi-Weekly. And never fret, the holidays slowed us down a bit on those.

Things have geared back up and are rolling right along.

Man.. before you're going to do a troll post (for whatever pointless reason) at least do a little research.

Yes, it is now bi-weekly Q&A + pics, not weekly. And a simple cut and paste shows it's only ten or so days (depending where you live) since the last one:

    Recent headlines for this title:

    image Q&A #13 & Screens #32 (Jan 03, 2006)
    image Q&A #12, Screens #31 (Dec 13, 2005)
image Exclusive Screens, Week #30 (Nov 29, 2005)
    image Q&A #11, Screens #29 (Nov 22, 2005)
image Exclusive Screens, Week #28 (Nov 15, 2005)

So, with that out of the way, if you want to get dragged down by naysayers (is there even any form of substantial multi user beta testing going on for nay-saying to be anything more than self-ego stroking and "I heard this rumor from a guy who knows this guy who's friends with this other guy's dog..." etc?) I doubt you'll find much sympathy here.

Personally, I'm going to remain optimistic and choose to make up my own mind when the time comes.

The naysayers as I have dubbed them are... guess who?

90% of the current Simutronics base that have dealt with Simu for 5+ years.  They're sinking the majority of their money into a genre they have no experience (save an originally abandoned project called the original "Hero's Journey").  I've been an optimist until only recently about HJ, as you can tell from my posts in the folder, but it's getting old.  All we keep hearing is "OMFG IT'S GONNA REVOLUTIONIZE THE INDUSTRY."  Too bad the game will already be outdated by the time it is released.

As for the [bi]-weekly screenshots?  My opening point remains.  8+ screenshots a month more than trumps 4.  As for the Q&A's, yea they're appreciated, but it's gotten to the point that there are repeat questions or simply irrelevant ones.

The effort is appreciated, but I've turned to the dark-side in being pessimistic.  Hell, I was an optimist for the ORIGINAL HJ as well.

Well I have only gotten on to this game quite recently, I have read all the information about it that I can find. And unless they flat out fail to do half of the stuff they are saying, nothing will stop me playing this game. If it is due out before the end of this year then all the graphics and technology sound more than adequate for the current batch of comp systems.

You have to admire their feature list and their dedication to developing something different. ABout 80% of the features I have read address the majority of complaints I have with all the various other MMO games I have played. The are focusing on making you a hero, what more could you want. This game won't be a job/grind/time sink if they achieve their goals. And there will truely be unique characters/items/quests. So you won't see half the population of hard core players with the same path and character. The interaction with the environment, the combo abillities, the increased strategy, improving upon the aggro/threat system so the mobs aren't mindless killing machines. All these things are revolutionary. And the fact that they have sunk 4 million and 3 years into developing the toolset and engine strikes me as a very dedicated group of developers.

As for the management, I can't comment on that having never played any of their previous games. Though one thing is clear, in the world of online games people are never happy. I don't think I have heard of a community that doesn't complain about the game they are currently playing (playing being the operative word here)

I guess I have been bitten quite hard by this game :)

90% of the playerbase huh? Exaggerate much?

I suggest you look at a company call Mythic Entertainment for an example of a MUD developer making the move to 3D. Yup, Mythic phailed big time with DAOC.../sarcasm

You sound like you're griping simply for the sake of hearing yourself complain. Think of all the other MMOs and the "flood" of media that they release when in this stage of development. With many games you're lucky if you get a screenshot or two every SIX MONTHS, let alone every two weeks. You really need to complain about worthwhile topics.

Quite honestly, I think that Simu is going to bring a LOT more to the table than everyone is even THINKING. They most likely will change the way a lot of players think about MMOs, they will HOPEFULLY be getting people who would have never roleplayed, to actually do so without even realizing it!

All the big things, sure every other company does them, but Simu focuses on LITTLE TIDBITS OF COOL STUFF THAT MAKES A GIGANTIC DIFFERENCE.

    The end.
