I'm looking for a new MMO, since I've got bored of all my other ones. Recently I played CoV, which I liked, but it lacks content. I have also played: FFXI, CoH, SWG, and I delved into UO (free shard *cough*) a little.
I had a couple questions about DAoC:
- How are mounts gained? Through purchasing or a certain mission?
- What types of mounts are there?
- How much do houses cost?
- How much currency should I except to get from drops and quests?...

At level 35 you can get the basic mount. It costs 250gp and requires a small quest, basically delivering a saddle to someone. The more advanced mounts require higher levels, some champion level requirements and cost more gold. You can check them out HERE and HERE.
Horses and "Epic Mounts" which are things like elementals, nightmares, unicorns, etc. See links above.
Range in price from 250gp to 15 plat.
Depends on how much time you spend "farming" compared to leveling, etc. All really up to you.

like kunou said, your basic mount you can get at 35. It costs 250 gold and you have a "quest" to get a saddle. Takes like 5 mintes if that
you basic horse and then epic mounts. Read above. And I might mention the people ask about mounts we only talk about horses. In trials of atlantis you can also get a boat. I remember the skiff costed 500 and this could actually be traded around. I usually kept mine in my house vault so any of my toons could get it. In Leirvik and new frontiers you can jump on a battle barge. In the whole time that I've played I've seen one. We stormed leirvik keep with it
I would have atleast 4 plat saved up to start. In housing each lot holds 10 houses. If you see a marker stone then that lot is for rent/purchase. Depending on how long that lot has been sitting you can pay anywhere from 300-15P for it. After purhasing the lot you need to put a house on it. A basic cottage is 1 plat, a level 2 house is 10 plat and a mansion is 100 plat. Even after you put the house on the land you have a monthly rent fee. cottage generally 20 gold, level 2 was 200 gold, and I think a mansion was a plat. Then you have add-on's like a porch to put a consignment merchant on. With the merchant you can personally sell items/drops that you collected and make a decent living doing that. You can also add a vault to hold more crap (1 plat), merchants and teleporters can be housed inside for easy access (500 gold to 1 plat), A personal bind stone (1plat), and items to help craft (anvil, sc table, etc. 1 plat, 1plat, etc.). And of course theres all the decorations you can add.
One thing I liked about the house was that you could put trophies of certain slain monster in it. I was crammed full with that stuff. If you want a idea on that I think the website was www.daoc-trophy-mobs.com .
When you first start out don't expect much. I would say kill alot of blues until you get to level 20 atleast for better chances of drops. You start out earning a few copper here and there but when you get into the higher level you can really start earning money. Killing people from other realms earns you alot too. I trick I would use is at the high levels save all the armor and weapons you gather and find a crafter who is willing to salvage the items into the base materials and remake (also called hinging) them to increase your profit by a ton.
The only thing that seems left unanswered is the gold.
As mentioned, if you power level, you won't get drops as much and will lose out on gold as a result but assuming you stick to blue and Yellow for level ups, you can average 'What you need'.
The 300 gold rate for a mount fits the bill. By 35 you should have that much but not much more. Level 40-50 change. At 41 I can average 50 gold an hr without trying or hardcore farming.
The problem with answering the question is you don't get gold in many kills. You get loots. Still, 1-10 level: up to 50 silver in goods. 10-20 you tend to find the 50 silver becomes the standard. Level 20-30 1-2 gold in loots, silver is the standard in bags of gold loots. 30-40 you will see 1-2 gold drops and lots of loots worth that. At 41 I have had large chests drop 4 gold and loots go as high as 7 gold.
