Skills require cash, ships require cash, parts require cash, pvp requires cash. The only way to not grind (in some way) for cash is to buy it online with RL money. 3. PVE is boring thats a fair point 4. Deadspace is not an instance. I think you should actually know something before making up stuff. Deadspace is just a random location in space and can be found by anyone. You are not immune from other playes in deadspace. I didn't say you were immune to anything. The deadspace is still made specifically for your mission, it doesn't exist before you take the mission nor after you complete it. 5. The community is not just better, they are miles ahead of most other gaming communities. Your opinion. I still say it is on par with other communities that are just as good. Like I said, it may be the largest that doesn't completely suck. 6. CCP is trying and their innovations are getting even better. You seem to not play the game. I'm guessing you are one of those random trolls who tries an eve trial account every other month to just get a rough idea of whats ingame so you can troll here I stated that I had tried EVE on and off for the past year. What I didn't say is that I had a paid account for that time, my only trial period was 14 days in Oct '04. I said that CCP's innovations were not all that impressive anymore. Partly because the standards have risen, and partly because some of their innovations exist in other games. I didn't dispute that they are "trying." 7. And yes there are many more. You wouldn't know because a 14 year old wizard like yourself wouldnt understand it if it jumped up and smacked you in the face. Not that you care, but I am far from 14 y/o, obviously you are still living in your own 14 y/o fantasy world.
Now run along troll boy kettle, black... Lastly, did you even read what I said about EVE in my last paragraph? Let me quote it here so you can read it again, and maybe make note of my two main points: EVE is a good game, however the mmorpg.com EVE fanboy club won it it's awards here. Sadly, there are no really good games to compete with EVE so the awards are probably deserved. I have tried EVE on and off for over a year and never got as worked up as the rest of you about it. Many people have helped me, even on these boards, and for that I am grateful, but in the end the game is not as good as it is hyped to be.
You seem pretty worked up to me.
In response to: 2. Getting cash isnt a grind. There are lots of ways that are purely skill, take very little time, and cant be repeated. I wont go into detail because itll make it work less well for me, but to say that cash=grind makes you ignorant, not correct.
3. Eve isnt a PvE game. PvE is there to teach people to play and provide easy cash if you prefer to get it that way.
4. Thats not the definition of an instance.
5. There are no other communities of comparable size that are both growing and as good.
6. The recently released ships (which, for example, allow multiple people to exist within the same entity (eg titan) are an entirely new concept to MMORPGS. The war for terriatory and control of it is totally innovative. The market and production are totally innovative. The plans for the future are SCARILY innovative. You are just flaming with little justification trolleyo.
7. Sorry, you just give that impression.
And in your conclusion? WHAT HYPE? this is one of the least advertised MMORPGS. It spreads by word of mouth. Word of mouth cant be over-hyped.

Why do they insist that it is the best game if it cannot appeal to the masses? If you are so nice in game, why is it you are rude here? So many comments can be made from the two statements above...
How do you force a game on someone?
Play it or don't.
I think everyone should TRY the game, heck I think everybody should try everything, but most who try it won't LIKE it the way it is, they play a few weeks and end up trying to CHANGE it, turn it into space everquest or space warcraft, because ultimately many people simply will not enjoy the harsh open pvp system.
In WoW you get killed and come back 5 minutes later.
In Eve you get killed, you just lost alot of money, and if you are low on funds it can really knock you down, so when someone declares war on you, it is MEANINGFUL, your corp can be driven from an area and unable to operate, they can force you from your home, force you out of your alliance, force you out of 0.0 and back to empire to lick your wounds.
This is what gives you "the shakes" when you committ yourself to violent discourse, your hands tremble at the controls, sweat drips down your face, high pitched voices in team speak "oh shit I'm scrambled."
I definitely don't think I'm a fanboy.
I'm constantly busting on CCP for pandering to carebears, for allowing macrominers to flourish, for allowing large barges to mine in newbie areas.
The game has some very real, and very seious issues, not the least of which is technical issues.
I don't know what language they used to code the client but it leaks memory like a like a bottomless mug, when you turn on sound you lose about 15 FPS, when you turn on effects and turrets you lose another 30FPS.
Even just 20vs20 fleet combat can be lagtastic. Its unpredictable. Sometimes the combat is smooth, sometimes everybody is lagged and it takes 2 minutes to turn on your shield booster.
The new fonts they have are horrendous.
Those are some of the problems that hopefully they will address.
The concept and artwork of the game is just beautiful, its just perfect in every detail.

While I love Eve online and have 2 accounts in the game I have to disagre with alot of what you said.
The graphics aren't that great. Ya they have some nice backdrops but how many different colors can you see the same backdrop in before it gets old. They have very little to accomplish graphically with a space only game. The ship models are starting to get out of date and some of them are just down right silly looking at that. I would give the graphics a 6/10.
Doing missions is just that, kill the beast over and over. I don't have to do much thinking to handle them. PvP is a different story but its that way for any game. With EVE the combat can be even more mind numbing because you just turn on the turrets and watch. Changing targets and watching damage reports is the highlight of the event.
One world is nice in many ways, it has its downsides as well though. However CCP is facing an upcoming problem, they cannot keep going at current rate and NOT add another server cluster. And when they have to do that then all their boasting is going to come back in their face and its going to cause some havoc as well.
Best community ever? I don't know about that, I have seen some excellent communites in SWG. I don't feel EVE's community is horrible but I don't feel its anything spectacular.
The in-game browser is an ok creature feature but honestly most other games would have very little use for it.
EVE is a very good game, I enjoy playing it. It has its very dry moments for me and then starts to get fun again for some reason or another. I intend to continue playing it for a long time. EVE has alot of strong points, the skill system for one as you also mentioned. However I feel EVE gets credit in alot of places where it shouldn't be getting them, such as graphics.

Of course I am worked up over being called a troll for stating my opinion. I didn't say the game was bad, horrible, unplayable, etc, I just said that I disagreed with the OP's reasoning behind his "Why EVE's the best of the best." As a matter of fact, if you read my first post in this thread, I said that EVE was a good game and deserved the awards it got.
2. You say getting cash is not a grind, but everything in the game depends on the economy. I didn't say this was a bad thing. I said that it was a grind to get cash. Yes, you can get cash without "grinding", however the overall goal is to get cash which makes your inherent "job" in EVE to generate revenue by some means. 4. If having a mission objective created specifically for a character that exists only while that character has the mission is not an instance, then please tell me what is? Are you saying that just because other players can enter your mission area without being a part of the mission itself makes it "not an instance?" If you ask me, this is a perfect example of how CCP decided to implement instancing within the parameters of EVE space. I didn't say it didn't work, just that the OP was wrong when he said there was no instancing.
5. The OP stated that EVE had "the best community ever." It is not, there have been many communities that have been just as good if not better in the past. If you want to qualify it as "the best community currently available," then I might not have disagreed so vehemently.
I had to cut and paste your #6 because there is so much in it:

Okay, you responded to me "maturely", thank you, I don't have a disagreement with your post just the way you responded with the "leave us the [frack] alone" comment which had been preceded with the statement "EVE is the best community ever" by the OP. had to comment on some if this, as i just recently cancled my swg account again...
while its true that you can have multiple players in the same entity in swg for some time, i dont think manning the turrets of a yt freighter is the same as the titans in eve...
if you like to compare these 2, you would have to compare eve's player-owned titans to swg's player-owned star destroyers..... oops.. they arent in yet? after all, the titan is a mobile BASE, where your allies can dock and clone and such...

No its not if I really wanted to I could break out the scan probs and hunt you down. I would warp to you and end up at the first dead space gate. I would then jump in and find you.

Um, the gates are not instanced, that is like saying the entrance to an instance is instanced. But you need the gate to get to me, so by your own statement your saying it is an instance, thank you.
Thank you, I rest my case. Deadspace is an instance. I know its horrible the EVE crowd might have to admit EVE has some instancing in it, life is hell.

and instance is a private version of particular place (separate from the main world) that only those who created can get access to. Complexes in EVE are still located in the main world and some random person CAN if they are so inclined find the gate and enter it. It's more akin to a mob that spawns in a random location in other MMO's but in EVE's case it is more than just 1 mob.

I don't disagree, however people previously were stating that EVE's implementation of Titan is truely innovative. By definition (from Websters) they are implying the following: Being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before. My point was not that SWG did it better, but that the concept had already been implemented at a small scale and was discussed even before EVE implemented the Titan.

Correct, an instance is a private version of a particular place. And no an instance does not have to be only accessible by those who created it. Sorry it is instancing the exact same way guild wars instances. You have to use an ancient warp gate to get there and that is the only way there. They just allow anyone using the gate to get into it. Just like guild wars allows anyone to enter any city instance they want.
Argue me all day about it, you aren't going to change my mind.

Minsc that is the first good arguement I have seen for deadspace mission not being instanced. Unfortunately I still feel that since the mobs in the deadspace (or even the deadspace itself) are not available until someone has a mission for them, it is still an instance within the confines of the EVE universe. In most other games, if you choose, you can group with others to grant them access to an instance even if they don't have the "key." You can do this with EVE, but considering that EVE is a PvP based game, I believe that CCP felt that instances needed to have a PvP threat and allowed access to anyone. Those are just my thoughts on why CCP chose an "innovative" approach to instancing which fit their universe better.
I'm a bit puzzled over the need to prove or disprove instances in EVE. I haven't tried this game yet, but, really, does it matter that much to you? Just gotta ask, because it seems like the smallest problem I've read about on a forum for a long while.
You like wow, go play wow, but no, all the immature lackwits are in here to whine about getting ganked, or travel time, or training time, suggesting to water down the game to make it easier for the masses.

Okay, you responded to me "maturely", thank you, I don't have a disagreement with your post just the way you responded with the "leave us the [frack] alone" comment which had been preceded with the statement "EVE is the best community ever" by the OP. I still think I asked valid questions that have not been answered with anything but, "you are a non-EVE fanboy" or "you are a troll."
had to comment on some if this, as i just recently cancled my swg account again...
while its true that you can have multiple players in the same entity in swg for some time, i dont think manning the turrets of a yt freighter is the same as the titans in eve...
if you like to compare these 2, you would have to compare eve's player-owned titans to swg's player-owned star destroyers..... oops.. they arent in yet? after all, the titan is a mobile BASE, where your allies can dock and clone and such...
Not true.
The graphics in EQ 2, Lineage 2, Dark Age of Camelot : ToA and above, and Guild Wars are all superior.
The graphics are Good but not the best, not by a longshot :P

No its not if I really wanted to I could break out the scan probs and hunt you down. I would warp to you and end up at the first dead space gate. I would then jump in and find you.

Um, the gates are not instanced, that is like saying the entrance to an instance is instanced. But you need the gate to get to me, so by your own statement your saying it is an instance, thank you.
Thank you, I rest my case. Deadspace is an instance. I know its horrible the EVE crowd might have to admit EVE has some instancing in it, life is hell.
Oh and about hunting me down, if your feeling froggy, leap.

and instance is a private version of particular place (separate from the main world) that only those who created can get access to. Complexes in EVE are still located in the main world and some random person CAN if they are so inclined find the gate and enter it. It's more akin to a mob that spawns in a random location in other MMO's but in EVE's case it is more than just 1 mob.

I'm a bit puzzled over the need to prove or disprove instances in EVE. I haven't tried this game yet, but, really, does it matter that much to you? Just gotta ask, because it seems like the smallest problem I've read about on a forum for a long while.
Why shouldn't I be rude to you? You're a troll.
You like wow, go play wow, but no, all the immature lackwits are in here to whine about getting ganked, or travel time, or training time, suggesting to water down the game to make it easier for the masses.
This is a certain type of game for certain type of people, and we've very nice to each other in-game, because being nice can save your life.
So go play wow and leave us the f*ck alone. You don't see me on the wow forum trolling, go play wow if thats your thing.
you sound like the very same wow players you are bitching about, i think you should go play wow, u would feel at home there. spaceships suck nuff said. feckin trekkies.
