Are they not people? You've been raised your whole life being told that what you believe in is right, and so have they. So, how do you know you're right?
Are they heartless killing machines made in a factory with no family, childhood, opinions, or choices?
No.
For a long time now we have been showing what mainstream society considers "Bad People" from another more human perspective. For instance The Godfather, The Sopranos, Boyz in the Hood, Menace to Society. Just because Italian Mobsters or Inter-City Gangs haven't blown up one of our National Landmarks killing thousands of Americans they can have their human side but Terrorists can not?
What about the Japanese during WWII? How many movies have been made about their human sides while they prepared for Pearl Harbor or fought us during WWII? The same with Nazis or Russian Communist during the 60s. Or even the IRA.
Idiots throughout the last century and probably before have shunned shedding light on the human side of the current "Bad Guy". Give it 10 or 20 more years and these kinds of films and TV Shows will barely cause a stir. Stop being the tools of the current people in power who believe they can stay in power if they cause you to wet yourself over the latest "immediate threat".

There is really nothing to understand about the Islamic Terrorists. It is on display plain as day if you take the time to read the Koran. They are true believers and that is what the PC crowd cannot understand.
They are just doing what their book is telling them to do and people like Clooney are trying to rationalize their behavior by looking for some excuse to defend the teachings of the Koran.
It was true during the crusades and it is what is happening now.Islam is not a peaceful religion despite what the apologists in Hollywood say or how many times they blame their upbringing on the USA.

That is complete bullshit. You haven't had much about religions in school have you? Islam is just as peaceful as Christianity or any other religion. It's how people use and read the religion that matters. Oslama Bin Laden and his extremists, have a (like the name extremists implies) extreme view. That is a view that in no way can be connected to the majority of Islam. You can't judge a religion on the minority of the bad people. It's like saying every american is a sick psyco that likes to torture people, because some soldiers do it in Iraq, Afghanistan and on Cuba.
I don't see what is wrong with movies like this. If you can make a movie honoring the soldiers that bomb innocent children and women into oblivion, why not make a movie that show's a slight touch of human feelings on a terrorist? I think america has painted this picture of a terrorist. The all evil, merciless killing machine. I believe it's quite different. I think many terrorists have families that they threath just as good as any american soldier. They are totally normal untill they choose to do that fatal step because they have been brainwashed by insane people.
Do not look at this post as a defence of terrorist acts. It's not. I'm just saying that you should maybe look at them in a different view. Are the people that kill innocent people in the name of Allah, so different from the ones that do the same in the name of God and USA?
This is why I don't like religion. It makes people do so bad things.

They lose their right to be considered "people" when they bomb schoolbuses full of children. They are condemned for their actions, not their beliefs. Sure, I am a Christian and I have my own set of beliefs. Do I know if they are right or wrong? No, I have a belief about them though. Do I bomb people for disagreeing with me? No, I argue at the very most. Arguements are fun. Bombs aren't. Pretty simple really.
Don't get me wrong, I am not calling "Muslims" terrorists. The "Christians" were no better during the Crusades or Inquisition. The problem is being fanatical.

Thank you! I was going to pretty much argue the same point as you but you saved me a lot of typing. Even as a Christian (which is supposedly dead set against Islam in the eyes of so many ill-informed souls ) *I* hate it when I see people bashing Islam so much when they OBVIOUSLY don't have the foggiest what they are talking about.
Religion is a bad thing, pure and simple. Faith is a belief and that is a good thing. Religion is just indoctrination and a system of beliefs that teaches you "My way or the highway". Taking one point of any belief and focusing on it TOO strongly leads to fanatics. That's what the terrorists do but that doesn't make their entire faith wrong. That can be said about at least one faction/schism/denomination of ANY major religion out there though.

Well the fact is.. they are no more "one dimentional" than any of us.
Many of us would regard ourselves as "computer gamers" but thats not ALL we do is it ?
To regard so called "terrorists" as one dimentional is just a combination of dumb and irrational.
I say so called "terrorists" because that is the label countries like the US, Australia and the UK have placed on them. In thier own circles they are regarded as "freedom fighters".
Lets not forget that Nelson Mandela, Xanana Gusmao, Che Guevarra and even Daniel Boone have variously been regarded as either "terrorists" or "freedom fighters" depending on who was describing them at the time.
Im afraid you will never convince me that acts like the weekend bombing by the CIA in Pakistan that killed 18 innocent civilians including women and children is any worse than the roadside bombs killing and injuring tropps from your countries and mine in Iraq. The whole thing is terrorists Vs terrorists or Freddom fighters Vs Freedom fighters depending on your personal political bent.
OP you need to expand your horizons Bro. You sound like someone is is hostage to your governments propaganda to me.

History has always been written by the "winners" or those with the majority of the power at the time. Those same "winners" often feel it necessary to cast their opposition in a different light to secure their own possition on top.
What if we lost WWII, Germany would be writing the history of things and you know what, "those American terrorist who lost their life on the beaches of Normandy (among others) trying to change our way of life" would be scene differently by todays society. Saving Private Ryan (using just as an example, not arguing amount of historical fact involved in making it), might have still have been made, but it may have been seen in the same manner as these recent releases regarding "terrorism".
In life, there are HUMAN BEINGS on both sides of the war. If Hollywood wants to show another side of the story so be it. Again, as other people have said, I am not condonning the terrorist actions and I think they are absolutely horrid. But again that doesn't make them less human or less deserving of having their side of the "story" told.
My cousin went over to Iraq serving as a medic pretty close to the front lines at the time and brought back a video he made (to give himself something to concentrate on and alleviate some stress), and it was amazing. Inner mixed with camp life and hommages to friends and unit members who were killed, were pictures of the Iraq kids playing with soccer balls given to them by the soldiers along with men and women thanking them and being grateful for what was being provided to them.
Everyone makes decisions in their life based on the options they are given....I may not always agree with the actions someone takes, but I will always feel that they should have the same chance to have their "story" told. Two people can watch the same thing and come away arguing, you never know the effect something will have...good or bad. The more knowledge and points of view that are available though, the better chance to get a more informed decision will be made.

its not the issue of who is right or wrong in considering if terrorists are "good" or "evil" its the issue of their means.
we dont consider someone who has different beliefs as us as "evil" at least not by the public any time recently or close to recent.
we consider the act of murder to be evil especially through the means they use.
this being said the christian extremists like timothy mcvee(sp?) are considered just as evil.
it is the same reasoning behind considering nazis as evil, and serial killers, and gay bashers.
so this isnt to put it in ignorant european terms "americans hating other beliefs" this is simple us hating the actions they take....
so please dont make such harsh judgements modjoe.

Hollywood is just upset that they aren't the most dispicable people in the world anymore. They simply just want that title back from the terrorists.
