It's nice that they're making it easier for people who can't find the game. Our Best Buy hasn't carried it for ages now, and our EB has one copy.... all the way on the top shelf.
The only reason why I haven't given this game a try yet is because I can't justify spending $30 on a boxed copy of a game made in 1998 and there's no free trial. I'm very interested in giving it a try and the game sounds very appealing to me but I'm not ready to spend 2 month's worth of game time in another game to try out one that I may not like.
The game is nothing like it was in 99. But Turbine are dumbasses for not having a trial for so long. And don't give me any crap about people abuse it, make multiple accounts, and mess up game mechanics. Every other MMO with a trial has to deal with the same problems. The time it would take to recode for the trial would be made up in the long run with new players. Is Turbine short sighted, lazy, stupid, or do they not care about AC1?

I completely agree... if Turbine want to keep AC alive they should make the DD free like newer games such as DAOC, EQ and EVE have. I really want to try it but I don't want to pay $30 for an empty game.

Short sighted: Yes Lazy: Definitely Stupid: Absolutely Not care about AC1: Oh, I suspect they CARE... it's just that #1 2 and 3 trump #4 by a mile.
Need proof: Look what they did to DDO.... It had the potential to be flat out awe inspiring... instead.... even most AD&D fans I know don't like it. Says alot, eh? Of my close friends I met in the DDO beta (about 20) only 1 plans to buy the game.
Turbine needs to get in touch with their audience. They also need to learn basic marketting skills.

Turbine says that a cd key and download method of purchase is in the works.

I am really hoping for a free trial so that I can start telling everyone about it.
