I always see that phrase about MMO worlds even though the only thing actually alive in the game is you,the monsters, and the NPCs. Why not create a world that is alive? Your walking along and then a dome on the ground appears then a monster bursts out,you kill it then more appear. Then you run over to what looks like a dead and cut a hole through it and then jump in and the entrance you cut open closes shut behind you.
I think that would be an interesting change to the dull old MMO worlds we see today.

Ive got two choices, run, or stay and fight...And I dont see no doors...
they already made one of those "alive" mmo worlds, they called it life, but its not too popular, and the worst part is, pvp sucks, healer bills are insane AND i hear the travel is CRAZY.

No,what I'm saying is after a monster comes up out of the ground the portal stays open until the monsters that came out have been killed. Of course,if the player who the monsters came out to attack ran off and hid those would still be out there. Also, this would help create new types of monsters in-games because it would be as though the planet spawned them.

I thought my first topic didn't get through so please delete this one,ty.

I hear what your saying and I strongly agree.
I think the amount of thought put into how the actual worlds work has been seriously lacking in most MMO's to date. Some sort of dynamic world that alters based on player involvement is long overdue. Its been hinted at in DnL but only time will tell what comes of it.
One of the most impressive things i have seen in terms of MMO world realism so far has been in WoW believe it or not. It might seem simple but the first time I saw a snow leopard chase down and kill a rabbit I was freaked out. Its like FINALLY some devs have thought about making creatures interact thoughtfully. Its only one example of how "mobs" interact in WoW that makes the environment much more interesting and involving than many other allegedly more complex MMO's.
