Thanks everyone from MMORPG who took the time to check out the game this past weekend! We appreciate all the feedback on the forums. The goal of Auto Assault is to try something new by mixing the right amount of player skill with RPG dice rolls to create a totally new gaming experience. We are constantly striving to adjust that balance to get the right amount of both.

Some of the things we are working to improve now based on last weekend's feedback:

-grouping improvements by improving/increasing class varience and interdependance.

-increasing combat interactivity without making combat more difficult. We have some cool ideas based on the feedback that will make combat more strategic than it is now.

-performance improvemnts galore. We are working like mad to get memory usuage down and increase frame rate. Each build going forward will continue to improve in this aspect until we get the game running great on the min spec. Maybe we made a mistake by letting people try it now but we wanted feedback on gameplay as soon as possible giving us more chances to iterate and get combat great before we launch this spring.

If you are interested in helping to shape the future of the game be sure to post your play session thoughts so that we know where you want us to prioritize our game refinement. If you can post constructively we will obviously get more from the post, but we read everything regardless. We even read your posts RipperJack ;).

I like the sound of that - right now, one of my gripes with the game is how similar the classes seem to be. sure, some get pets, some self-heal, some do a little more direct damage, but they all play too similarly, imho.

i.e. fwiw, they all mainly just drive around shooting, with skills being secondary. I'd like to see pet classes paying more attention to controlling thier pets, healers (for lack of a better blanket term) depending more on various gadgets, strategy, etc. Haven't tried a stealther lately, but last I did, stealth and subversion could have been much better emphasized. Then, of course, the 'tank' classes for just good old straight-forward blasting the crap out of everything.

Interesting way of looking at it, when many people ask for more difficult combat - I have to admit, that may be the right interpretation of what many of us feel is needed. Not difficulty, so much as interactivity, to make us feel like we're doing more than just holding the mouse button down. So, good luck with that.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Thanks for having us! Auto Assult is really looking great.

The Graphics are great, and the Cars look cool. The controls are a little weird, but once you get used to driving and have the right kind of tires they get easy to operate. And the customization... Tons of Engines, tires, guns, colors, designs! Granted this was a Beta and alot of cars looked similar but there is a lot of promise there.

On the downside, however the higher level enemy missing, lack of different play styles between classes, and the once in a while I was stuck on nothing or couldn't get around because of an invisible block. But all and all I think that the majority of the game was at least there and it was great to play!

    Thanks for the invites, Scorch.

Graphically, the game is really nice and polished. It could definitely have a bit more work done on the resource side but I'd also suggest some netcode review.

While I do sit on the borderlines of the beta specs, I found that what was causing most of my locking up/jerkiness/freezing was more along the lines of latency than they were from memory issues even though the effects of it seemed like it came from the lack of RAM. Under minimal lag, I found myself able to run around killing scavs with 6+ other cars, all using every sort of skill and the GFX that goes along with them without any discernable drop in framerate and with absolutely no jerking.

Sometime later, I was on my lonesome but someone else was on the network doing who knows what that brought my ping to the game to 180-200+(Meter was bouncing between green and yellow). Even with all the graphical settings turned from the highest down to the absolute lowest, I encountered constant freezing/jerking around. With that in mind, I think the netcode would benefit from being a bit more robust when it comes to latency issues as it should at most cause the person to fall out of sync, not make it look like one's system was crashing.

As far as customization goes, I think listing stats such as how chassis or powerplants(I find it strange that a car's speed is in no way related to it's engine) affect max/average speed might be helpful seeing how this is a car game.

It'll also be cool if a simple manual drive could be added as an optional/advanced setting as it seems the game already has the mechanisms for it in place, and I've always wanted to try to powerslide a garbage collector. ::::01::

Edit: oops.. totally forgot too. Is there any way to break up those gig+ map/texture files while patching? Even right after patching was done, I ran full check just to be sure and it'll DL those again.. so I figured they were bad. Once they finished, I tried it again and it would try DLing them again even though I could cancel and play without any issues.

Thanks for bearing the unbearable and extremely opiniated and bad tempered me!  image

The bad news is that I am considering playing AA now!  image I doesn't say I will, but well, I am thinking about it far more seriously then before.  Especially with my DDO disappointment.

Galactic Civilisation II is possibly going to be your challenger for my interest in past time.
