Mouse Freelook complaint

I DL'ed the free trial and played around for about an hour or so. Ok, I can live with the dated graphics, but one thing that prevents me from enjoying the game is the way the camera is setup. When in 3rd person view you can use mouselook to look left and right, but it wont let you freelook up and down..WTF? Sure I can use my number pad keys to look up and down but not the mouse like in other MMOS? Anyway... I was really wanting to play this game but it just feels awkward not being able to look up and down with the mouse. Maybe there is a setting I'm missing (I hope so).

i dont think theres a setting for that.
I've played for about a year and never seen it.
but then again i never really looked
but i doubt it

Ok thanks a lot. It's a shame really because it just feels so strange not being able to freely mouselook around. I dunno, maybe I should try to get used to it afterall it is free to play.

Yes I second that motion.  I would love to use mouselook as well.  I have not found a waty to do that though.

Yeah it's annoying the crap out of me. It doesn't make sence how you can look up and down in first person view but can't in 3rd person view... it's just strange.

I emailed AO support and asked them about the mouselook. Here is the reply I got.

 

Hi,

In the third-person position, the mouse can be used to look right and
left if the right mouse button is clicked.  However, to look up and down
the CTRL button must also be pressed.  This is by design.

That soundss kind of awkward if your trying to move your character while moving the camera.
