Ultima Online 2 Movie (game play video)

Heya. Anyone have a link to the Ultima Online 2 movie(s)? uo2.com of course is dead and I didn't see it off hand anywhere being hosted. If there was more than one, the one I was interested in is the flick with the ettin.

Wow I havent seen this in forever. I remember reading and article about this game after it was scrapped by EA. The article was on Richard Garriot, and although he didnt have anything to do with UO2, his friend Starr Long did. And from what he said the game was done, and ready to go. Basically they scrapped something like 10 Million cash when they canned it. Hell you can still by uo2 toys that where released before the game came out on ebay hehe.

Two things on that video I noticed. 1. The date 2000. Wow It's been that long. That was just one year after EQ had came out.

    2. That girl fighting in that video (2:41) right after it showed the man doing martial arts. Was some of the fastest character movement I have seen by a character in and MMORPG. That might have had a great combat system.

I was so excited about UO2 I cant believe they canned that and came up with AOS=/

Wow, man. I've almost forgotten bout how the trailer looked for UO2.

I find it interesting how the combat in a 6 year old game looks sooo much better, faster, and more interesting than any current game out there right now. The trailer shows soo many awesome combat moves...

Just wish they never cancelled the game. *slaps EA*

The doll would surely say, "I do not want to be human!" although her master wants her to be even more.

I swear I almost shed a tear when I heard they cancelled UO2. Actually, Im still gutted about it and Im STILL looking for that next "UO2". I doubt I will ever find it though. All MMO's are cookie cutter crap these days.
Im getting tired of them all. None are as superb as the late, great Ultima Online.

Yep EA games completely killed UO. Damn Origin why did you have to go sell it.  Yep I was so excited about UO2 as well.  I used to check the website every day and then one day there was a post about how they were gonna stop creating it.  Put it this way I cant remember how much damage i did to my room.  Including my computer screen.
  • arrisbarrisb Member UncommonPosts: 194

Im sure UO2 will come out one day in some form but Im also pretty sure that it will be just another WoW or EQ2 clone. Which is something I dont want in the slightest.

Origin didn't sell the game to EA.  EA bought out Origin completely :(  Origin no longer exists, which is a shame... at the time they were easily the game company I trusted most.  If I saw an Origin game on shelves and it was at all interesting I was always 100% confident that if I bought it it would be high quality.

Can't really say that about any other game company out there.  Even Blizzard has had some duds.

You should try EVE Online - it's in a totally different setting (sci fi), you don't control an avatar, but you fly a ship in space.  But the freedom reminds me of UO in it's early years, before all the newb-friendly changes.  EVE hasn't reached that stage yet and I hope it won't in the forseeable future.

    Kinda sorta but not quite---

Right at the beginning of the DOT-com bubble-burst EA canned UO2 and said they were gonna make a 3d client for UO instead.  They "beta" tested it for a few months and released the new lands and the client despite serious reservations by the players.

This is when they released the crap that was Lord Blackthorn's revenge and everyone let out a big WTF.

AoS was a much bigger WTF that happened later on.

I remember when LBR came out. I thought that was an OK expansion, hence I've been around since t2a patch. I thought the real killer was AoS for real. it just turned the game into a clone of other games. I, too, was looking forward to UO2. Cancelled...I was mad. then they were going to release UXO, which was looking pretty decent. CANCELLED...WTF? That's when I lost my hope in EA, then Samurai's in UO? wtf? I quit UO totally and decided just to keep the game in my memories.

I so wish there would be a UO2, but when you think about it...it's just going to be another EA game. so what's going to be good about it? lol. UO is dead, and it's hard to believe it sometimes. I dont' think there will ever be a "UO" ever again. Sucks.

Right now I'm looking at Vanguard. It reminds me of UO alot. People are saying Darkfall is a UO vet game, but I dunno about that game yet...kinda scetchy on it. But as for now, Vanguard has the sea travels on boats (which remind me of UO).

Right now I dunno if I should go with Vanguard or Darkfall.

Well its a nature thing to happen, the idea is make a upgrade from de UO version to UO2, its like diablo2, like diablo 2 was a great improve compare to diablo 1 and of course diablo1 eventually die but everybody moves to D2, the idea is if de UO2 suck the players will stick in UO 1

1 major difference between UO and EVE:
UO was (and still is) fun.  EVE is a snooze fest.

    1) Darkfall is vaporware... if it ever actually releases it's going to be as bad (or worse) as D&L.
    2) Vanguard is a level grinder that requires you to join a group to gather resources from "raid" areas.  It is *nothing* like UO... that is just wishful thinking.

Right now there's NOTHING remotely like UO anymore.  SWG was pretty close till they nuked it and published NGE instead.

Ive heard the reason they stoped the progress of making UO2 is because they want to make more money off UO, which really donsnt make much sience. Im now currently playing Eve-Online its the best graphics but would quit it n a second to play uo2

  • FockerFocker Member Posts: 344

Darkfall will be your UO2  :) They announced beta will be done around the end of December 2008, and the new video they just released is yet another nice glimps of the game.  Its going to be a fun game!  Its kinda sad that all im looking for in a game is fun, yet no other game to this day holds that for me.  Hopefully darkfall will.

I think you are exactly right here...it was about the money. They had a steady income from the UO players...why split that or possibly loose some by releasing a game that would compete with it's own UO. Releasing some crap expansion on UO was a far better money grab, and cheaper than creating a whole new game.

I like many was very upset to hear the cancellation of UO2. I remember loggin onto the UO2 forums one day n reading that post n thinking it was some kinda joke. I think the AoS release in '3d' (if that is what you want to call it), was an attempt at appeasing the players they shafted with canning UO2.

AoS ruined the game to me. It just became, to me, a Diablo clone. All about dungeon crawling for the next peice of 'Uber gear' , then sellin it for some insane amount of money.

EA BOUGHT Origin before UO was released, I was in the beta. My beta CD's have a EA seal and a OSI seal. (Origins Systems Inc). I remember distinctly agreeing in writing no less to EA/OSI ToS for this first time ever projects, a massive multiplayer rpg!

T2A <--- Much needed as many were getting sick of kids like me killing them for their regs.

3rd dawn <-------------hats the one that was to appease the UO2 people It had the Meer and what not.

LBR <---------- The story of UO2 is right freaking there. LBR is UO2's story  just localized for UO1

AoS <---------- Whine all you want about it, once LBR came out it ws bound to happen.

Samurai crap <--------to appeal to the growing Asian market (See Japanese shard population ;release of samurai empires.

AoS had little or nothing to do with uo2, it ws LBR that was the rip.

Get your abortions of UO right.
