That's kinda like saying people who send back a bowl of soup because it has a fly in it aren't the type of people who *really* enjoy soup. image

false analogy... it would liken itself more towards someone who quits eating soup for life over a single fly.

But well done... random trolling for your first post on these forums

Instancing in this case is required as others have said to retain some sort of realism and to enable no long travelling times due to difference between navigation and combat.

I get the impression that those of you who don't like the way it is being used wouldn't have liked this game.

Why do I say this well because :

Combat is not going to be a 1-2 min affair. It will involve maneuvering, shot selection.

People with skill will be able to use escape from another player.

Having the biggest battle ship does not mean you will instantly win against all other ships below you. This is were terrain really comes in and that heavy slow ship really wont be able to keep hold of a small fast ship that can outrun and outmaneuver you.

Seabed terrain will play a large part as will wind conditions.

There are no Plasma cannons, cannons in this era are not going to sink a ship in one or two hits.

Being a pirate is hard, its not all rum and looting its also damn risky.
