Wow, free planetside? Crud, now I have no excuse to not play. It was a great game . I played it up until the underground caverns expansion. Dam that thing sucked (for me). I cant wait to play agian. I quit becuase it was just silly to pay a monthly fee with (I felt) nothing in return monthly. Cant wait to start zipping around in my Mag agian. Vanu Rules! Once you go Purple you never go back!
This is not a demo, as the game has been out for two and a half years. This is a year long free trial to anyone who would like to try out Planetside.
Also I'd like to note you will not be seperated from paying custumers. There is plenty of room for everyone. Each server is able to hold around 6000 players. The battles of Planetside are huge, with up to 400 players able to fight on the same Planet.
This thread was burried ten minites after posting that movie, so that is why I am refreshing the thread at night in hopes of more people able to see it before falling off the page, and hopefully watching Radiant's PS Movie and learn about the Free Play offer Planetside will have soon.
I might try this out - even if SOE isn't good. PS sounds good.
Besides, it costs me nothing to try.
Lastly, of course a planetside player would encourage people coming to planetside.
The players knows the game is enjoyable (subjective)
The player would enjoy the game more if there were more players (likely)
The game will better keep running if it has a larger fan/playerbase, which is good for those who want to play it.
I see nothing wrong in making an as far as I can see honest post with regards to this. I mean: Unless there is something cruelly wicked about the link, what harm?

Initially I was excited...but only to battlerank 6? I cant remember exactly what that rank allowed you to drive. BUt does that get you into all the vehicles? Like if you want to fly the Reaver or big A__ tanks? Just curois been like a year ago since I played.
You will be able to access any weapon or vehicle the game came with, however you will be limited to how many weapons and vehicles you can use at once time. The higher your BR rank the more weapons and vehicles you can use, not the better. Everyone is on a level playing field.
A BR 6 charactor has 11 certification points and 1 Implant slot.
Here, at PSS, is a list of certifications the game currently has. Don't forget that you must have the pre-requisite of a certification inorder to get it. For example, if you want a Reaver which is in the Air Cavalry Assult cert (certification) will first have to get the Air Calvery Scout cert. In total, the reaver takes 5 certification points to get, but you get a misquito with it from the Air Calvery Scout certification.
Yeah exciting video. I just saw it. I hope many more people play at the same time. Returning vets and greenhorns alike. Numbers is waht made Planetside fun when I played before.

Accually it is because the playerbase has been asking for more players to join the game for the past year and a half. About 12 months ago someone thought up the idea: What if there was a "Free Play" option for the game, that would attract more players. After about a month of talking this thread turned out to be a success and the name "Fodderside" was born. The players decided that they wanted to allow more players to join and play up to BR 6 CR 2. Ever since that thread, people have been begging the SOE Developers to introduce their idea into the product. A free trial to smash all others, once tha could attract anyone who wanted to join. About 5 months ago Enrico_Pallazzo commented that he was trying to get this to happen. He said he would contact the higher ups in SOE and present the idea of an unlimited time free trial that was limited in BR rank. They settled on it lasting a year, not unlimited, but it did go though. Late January Enrico posted the date of Febuary 14th as the estimate date that it would be finished.
Here we are today, me wanting to get as many people to know about the new feature inorder to bring in as many new faces as possable. If you have ever played Planetside you would know you have the most fun when there are 398 other players on the continent you are on and although we already have that, there are 17 Planets, Battleisles, and Cavern maps that can each hold 400 players. Having even 4 of those maps full at once would be enough, but I want more .

now all we need is a free infantry subscription. If any of you played that game back when it was free and there was the CTFX server, you would know what i mean. Infantry had a huge playerbase untill they made it cost money, and now i think there are like 100 players, Infantry needs free play too!. I think that infantry would probably mmore fun than PS for me. but meh, ill take what i can get
I don't think the old game Infantry will be getting a free subscription inless you beg the developers that are still with the game. Personally I'd play planetside or move on to another game as Infantry Online is not a good game in my eyes.

Planetside.com just got a new website in preperation for the "Free Play" option. Although the JOIN NOW buttion in the center does not give you the free play option yet, it most likely will when they launch the promotion.

Planetside just like every other FPS game I can think about, is all about skill.. If I make a BR4 character I can instant action and begining owning some of the best people in the game just because I was one of the best to play this game.. Its all about skill so no matter what if you have skill you will kill no matter what your rank is...
However levels give you certification points that allow you to purchase different types of equipment/vehicles and things of that nature so someone who is a higher level will always have more options and generally be more rounded.. But they still can be killed if you have the skill.. So in a way Levels matter but then agian they dont.
BR6 though is way to low even for the trial, you will not be able to purchase enough things to really compete agianst some of the others out there.. Add that to the fact that BR6 can be attained by a complete skilless person in 1 I say ONE day and its a joke if you ask me.. They should have put the level cap for the trial at br12, But the name of the trial "Fodder system" should tell you what they think about people trying there game. Your only there to make the game funner for those that actually pay to play.
