Would you like a game that had a complex system of developing your guild/clan that was as complex as developing your individual character?

I know thats kinda open ended and without a lot of info. But imagine for a sec that the game that the system was implemented met most peoples expectations....

Like what? What else do we need? They already have a ranking system in most games. I know Matrix Online broke guilds into smaller squads. SWG had clan buildings, chat, cities with travel and political systems... Just not sure if we're really missing out on anything.

I'm just asking, all other games aside what kinda guild/clan system people want. After having played DAoC I would consider that a fairly simple system.

When I say complex system I guess I mean a guild system that has more of an effect on the world. The guild has more influence on the world. I see a system where guild sets rules in the area its in. voting of its members and various other actions.....

This sounds pretty much like EVE Online's corporation and alliances system. Do you mean a system like that? - Then you will have a positive vote from me - not voted yet.

i voted for more complex guild systems.

WoW was just terrible. Children can come up with a better guild interface than WoW. I never played some of the older or failed games(AO, AC, SWG etc.) but i would like to see guild houses.(instance or player built). In this type of meeting place there is so many options. A scoreboard could hold all kinds of statistics to most time played to most PK's. Crafters could make furniture. Possibly have multiple ranks and positions awarded through player made quests. FFXI Linkshell system was also a farce.

I would like to see a system that is as complex as the guild leader desires.

The world is not out to get you Mr. Casual. Stop working in RL and put some hours in the game like the rest of us. What's that? Your time in RL is more VALUABLE. Nuff Said.

Truth is I'm still working out exactly what it means as it fits into a system I'm developing. I would like to create a PvP system that that is extreamly dynamic and complex that guilds are at the center of.

I just started playing EvE 6 days ago, but from what I have seen from eve, somthing like that is what Im talking about...

Try not to get hung up on the exact details, the issue is really if guilds should be an integral part of the world, or if they should simply be places where people can build a house and run around under the same banner.

    Why not both?-

In real history both has happened - if you allow me to call the christian church a kind of guild for a moment, there would be an easy example for both happening also. The early church just as a "guild" with a banner only (the fish icon) - and the established church with many houses, churches, cathedrals and real estate overall the world today. Thank you for letting me use this as an example; in a game a religion could be reflected by a guild, that is why I used this as an example; I did not say, that the real christian church is a guild or something like this (it was no offense in any way).

I always think there should be the *possiblity* to take guilds to the next level, making them complex and more organized, etc. But don't base it all on that.
If you do that, you spend more time on it than anything else.

Have the option, but don't force it.
Customization is always a favorite of mine - but I don't want to spend forever on it.
It takes me long enough to come up with a character name that I like enough.. ::::28::

I think my idea would go somthing like this.

First I don't like predetermined sides. I would like to see a world where the sides and aliences are dertermined by the players.

I know what your thinking, how do you prevent players from overpopulating one side or another? I have an idea that would prevent that, but in a way thats not a 'nerf' so to speak. Your gonna have to be paitent if ya wanna know, I'm still flushing the idea out. Having said that there would also be logical boundries on the number of guild determined bycertain facors in the world. Another idea I'm flushing out.

I think people like to have thier own groups made of players that they pick and that group is going to want some atounomy. Lets call those groups clans. A guild would be a collection of clans, Those that wanted to take a more active roll politicly and structually would do that and others who wish to just form a group and fight could do that. The less involved guilds would still have to do things for the group but their rolls would be simple ones....

I think it would be cool to have more active clans in games, like you could start a war against anither clan or team up woth another claan to do stuff or like having clan based missions were you have to go places and do stuff that you wouldnt be able to do by yourself.

A yet to be released game that allows a Guild to make quests, and make a name for themselves, to control and develop regions within the game world. When one day that Guilds head could be a King who would control immense power over trade, over armies and castles, over subjugated peoples and more...

One of the things that attracts me to a game most is the guild system. The Saga of Ryzom hass one of the best guild systems I've seen so far, being able to buy a building and trainers for your guild, and take on outposts to claim as your own. It's the whole reason I bought the game and stick with it even though it'sd questing system is the worst I have ever seen. Saga od ryzom has guild forums built in so you don't have to make your own website, it's better because you an check in-game.

Most guild systems have a simple ranking scheme, chat menu, not much else to speak of.

I want to be able to buy buildings for my members to hang out in. Maybe even shops or found a town! I want to be able to give members dynamic ranks, maybe having specific people identified as providing certain services for the guild, and have a system in place where they can be rewarded. I want to be able to do guild quests, and earn some sort of reward like noteriety/fame, money to fund aforementioned rewards for service providers. I want in-game forums, and a calender to mark guild events. If the guild can earn money through completing quests, then the guildmaster, and other assigned people should be put in charge of spending - for rewards or guild events. Like having guild competitions, buying kit for newbies, maybe some sort of training fund. I like when guilds have their own tabard or other clothing that can be worn to distinguish it's members too.

I want a guild system where members of the guild can get involved in doing things. not just chatting and the occassional meet up or trade. I mentioned quests for the guild before, and having members given positions in the guild providing servcies - like designated enchanter, who would get paid so much to provide the service. It would be good if players could get dynamic ranks to reflect the effort they put into the guild. It's hard to watch people's progress all the time if there are a lot of members and promote them all manually. To be honest theres an element of favouritism sometimes to, maybe not promoting someone to second in command though they do more for the guild than your best friend who's on once a year. Maybe sub-ranks. Gaining some form of points, maybe stars for doing things like quests, or providing materials of help to newbies for the guild. I'm not sure, you would want it all to be automatic though of course, thats why sub-ranks might be good. If there were stars or points, you could see who deserves promoting or other reward and see who does nothing. Maybe the stars could be just seen by certain ranks, or maybe by all, don't know what would be better. Eg:

(0 stars in active - 10 stars most active)

    Guild Master- Aims (10 stars)
    2nd In Command - Darkraiden (2 Stars)
    Treasurer - MonkeyBoy (3 Stars)
    Member - xheifoleaf (0 stars)
    Initiate - MaXer - (1 Star)
    Initiate - Pombley - (7 Stars)
    Initiate - Bayleaf - (6 Stars)

You might want to consider rewarding the wee guy at the bottom whos working pretty hard. ;)

Well it's just a thought. I don't expect we'll ever see anything like that though, but it would be cool.

  • I voted yes...but only to show support for the people who like running/being in guilds.

I've been in clans and I've ran them...neither really fits my play style, so I quit doing the clan/guild thing.

Most games have an online community. Where people with similar interests get together and share that interest.

I want an online society where people interact and interdepend on each other. Conversly, your enemies will attack you and attempt to destory you fo
