Like the post title says, "Revolutionary or retarded?"
Seems like an interesting idea, right? Like one of the replies said, "possibly the arcade players could control enemies with a life expectancy of only a few minutes?" That would make a lot of sense if you're expecting the $.50 per every 5 minutes on average for a popular title in an arcade.
What do you guys think?

Listen Asmodeeus, seven years ago, Ultima Online didn't even have those pathetic "quests" that you refer to or those "professions" of ninja, samurai, necromancer, and paladin. Nor did it have any of the neon crap, or bug mounts. It didn't even have any "combat moves." You turned on attack and jousted with simplistic swings. It was a better game then. if you can't guess why then just uninstall the thing and move along. - Crabby

That sounds like an interesting idea, but the problem is that you wouldn't be able to get very in depth into the game. MMORPG's are partly for leveling up and honing your character's skills, and there probably wouldnt be any way to save your game in the arcade. Perhaps you could make an account that all arcade machines in the world with that game will remember so you can continue using one character.
I personally wouldn't play it because I like the more long term involvement of MMORPG's on my own computer.
I agree with Aiglos about the home computer thing.
However i was a long term player of the arcade game Streetfighter, and although it is not an MMO, i have long hoped that an MMO would incorporate that kind of arcade style combat, along with skills and abilities upgrade.
Basically like a Manual FFXI or MxO. Where you actually had to "pull out" your special moves like a dragon punch. It would bring an element of skill to MMOs that i feel they are sometimes lacking.
