What game has the best pets system now?

I was a master rifleman/master creature handler preCU in SWG and loved the combo. They continued to nerf the pets to hell publish after publish and now with the NGE the CH profession no longer exists. I played a hunter in WoW till mid 50's but it just didn't compare to the CH system that SWG once had.

Are there any games out today that offer anything close to the CH system that SWG once had?

I don't know what the pet system in SWG is like as i've never played the game. Though I'm considering getting it to see what it's like despite all the bad things I've heard about it. Surely it's not that bad....?

Anyway, I like the pet system for City of Heroes because you can have more than one pet. They come in three types - zombies, robots and ninjas. You can assign speech to them, it cycles through the speech randomly when you press the assigned key. it's like they're talking to you/each other. It doesn't get too annoying for other players because you can have mutiple speeches, it's random.

City of heroes has something similar, but you have to get to high levels to get the pets. You an get one phantasm, or three imps depending on how build your character. That one isn't as good obviously since you can't get the pet until high levels.

World of Warcraft has a good pet system. If you choose to be a hunter you can tame various beasts, which can learn moves. These moves you can then teach to other creatures you tame, which is pretty cool. You can only have one pet out at atime though, but it's still really good I find.

I hope this is of use to you.

Thanks for the advice, but please don't buy SWG. It really is that bad, take my word for it. go to the starwarsgalaxies forums and read the general descusion boards that will change your mind.

With all the negative feedbacks SoE is getting from what's its doing to SWG, do they actually think they are improving the game or just destroying it to end it?  I am guessing they just want to dump SWG anyway they can.

I would have to say AO on that one.

All 3 pet classes are pretty ok.

Bureaucrat, have the weakest all over pet, but can charm the real heavy hitters, crowd control class.

Engineer, damage and tank pets, crafter class and support class with defence buffs.

Meta Physicist, 3 pets, one mezz pet, one damage pet and one heal pet, hard to control well but when you do they are very very effective, caster class with medium damage, also have some of the best buffs in the game.

    I'll second that...

I played a MetaPhysicist for a couple years; very demanding to play well, but extremely rewarding. The Mez
pet was kinda sketchy (it's was suppose to "mesmerize" the Mob, but all it really did was piss them off and make'em aggro the MP!) back then, but maybe they fixed it.
