More bad press for SWG…

…this time from the washingtonpost.com, “Sadness in Star Wars World”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/01/AR2006020102341.html

By the way – make sure you click on “The Star Wars Galaxies Tour” for the authors voice narration on his tour, I almost missed it so I wanted to make note of it here.

It's funny to see how SOE still "totes the party line" that this is a "successful" endeavor by stating "the changes have already won over a fresh supply of players"

Yeah - trial players. Once they lie and screw over them also, they will use up all the potential customers, and the game (now flaming) will finally hit terra firma, and disentigrate. The sooner they take SWG away from SOE, the better. If not I hope it dies soon.

Well, considering the screwing players got in EQ, I can't say as I was really surprised to get ganked by the same company in SWG. It's too bad too. It had potential but they opted to "sacrifice" veteran players with consistent monthly payments for a "fresh supply of players". That must mean that the vets served no further purpose to SOE and they decided that we were simply in the way of whatever their grand design is. :) May they rot in hell.

I was at a store today and saw the feb issue of Computer gaming world. At the bottom it said something like "Star wars Galaxies. Sony admits it sucks, re-releases it, and now its worse" Or something to that effect. I started laughing out loud when I saw this.

The vice president of marketing Blakely said, they knew they would be sacrificing some players with these changes.   Some players?  He considers the tremendous mass of players who have left as some players?

If you know the exact e-mail address of this reporter Musgrove write it here so I can e-mail him also. I know its at the Washington Post but don't know where.

So as you can see they knew they were screwing many players.  Players who spent over two years defining their characters.  With this article they said it all.

If they think Galaxies will thrive ahead they're very mistaken.  Lying scumbags at soe will regret screwing the players when the game it finally comes down crashing on them.

Why because he did not adhere to the terms of the bribe to call the NGE something other than the crap it is?

It appears the link to this article and the discussion that followed was deleted from the official forums.  They deleted the postings and links to the unfavorable reviews in the New York Times and Christian Science Monitor when those appeared too.  Clever, tricksy SOE mods.

I don’t subscribe to the magazine so I haven’t seen the article. The FEBURARY issue is discussed at the official CGW boards, in this thread:

    http://boards.1up.com/zd/board/message?board.id=cgw_disc&message.id=7850

A SWG article is mentioned but not in detail… if anyone has details I’d like to hear what the article says. Also, I don’t think the author was fired. Around NOV 15th the CGW website wrote a small piece on the NGE and was harsh (read: honest)… I’m guessing the piece in the FEB issue is a full review and I’d love to read it.

They are now deleting *relevant threads at such a high rate it’s gone from “censorship” to borderline “thought police”. I mean, quite literally, if you post something contrary to the image SOE wants to portray, it will be deleted, and is erased from history.

I now know what it must be like to live in the Hermit Kingdom (a reference to North Korea).
