Video Card Dilema

Hey everyone. So I have a geforce 2 ...... laugh all you want but thats what i have- and It runs some games -but I am buying a new one FOR SURE. I have a HP desktop running windows xp 98 and a pentium 4 processor. I need a graphics card that can run the new games that are coming out soon ( HJ and chronicles of spelborn) but I don't want to put my self (too) in debt buying the top of the line either.

Anyone have any suggestions for a GOOD card that can run what i need and wont clear out my bank account?

Thanks ::::39::

    Either the 6800 series or the X800 series. Both those cards series are only mildly out of date. ;)

    nvidia also has a 6200 turbo or something of sort which is a descent card, rather inexpensive($150 ish or less), my friend run this card and plays eq2 on descent setting with 1g ram

    I run the fx5200 still and with 2g ram I have no problem at all running any games and mid to high setting except for eq2 in certain situations

    Unless youre playing the original Quake you arent running any new games at mid to high settings with that card.

    I can't even run EQ2 with my card.... i don't know how other people play any of the current games with cards worse then mine! I used to play WOW with this card and I'd lag around Org. so bad i'd get motion sickness ( or maybe I was just so annoyed with my crappy video card it mad me nautious).

    The 6800 GS is the best bang for the buck right now in my opinion. You'll see a huge improvement. Also make sure it's the AGP version where ever you buy it.
