Hate it or love it, WoW has been very successful for Blizzard. One has to wonder if they're considering making another MMO.
IMHO I think Starcraft would make a great MMOFPS, it has 3 very different opposing sides and great stories.

Why would they make another mmo? would only take customers from themself.. I don't expect to see another mmo from blizzard for quite some time.
It would follow the same fate that Warcraft has.
Warcraft was about war.
Starcraft was about war.
World of Warcraft lost that concept, and so shall Starcraft, because its the same company.
Its a lose lose situation.
it's a good idea, but i think that wow is going to keep going for along tme.
i've heard rumors it's going to get ported to next gen consoles... which will cause a nuclear reaction explosion inside the mmo community of exponential quality.
that game has the potential to get so huge.
sadly, success only makes people embrace the status quo, which means if you were looking for dynamic control over the game world in wow, you are never going to like the game. ever.

I don't think it would translate well into an MMOFPS... Besides.. Isn't Ghost going to be released in the next decade or something?
If anything they will go with just the normal RPG. All I can say is IF ghosts are a playable class.. Then I'm rolling a ghost and never looking back.

Ich suche dich

Hopefully ghost will be release before the next decade. Been waiting a long time for this game.
So if they release WoW on the next gen consoles will they allow them to play on PC servers or will they have there own servers?
I'm almost 100% that it will be the own special next gen servers.

Imagine this, the first FPSRTSMMORPG...
have classes much like in PlanetSide, with medics and snipers and the whole lot. Allow for ghosts and all those wonderful things.
You can play as a gatherer/crafter and make money toward your faction so more Marines and the like can be created.
Gameplay could be like Puzzle Pirates or just reallly fun and rewarding
Watching over everything is the commander which plays the game much like the RTS games of old, except creating untits actualy respawns dead players.
Balance is really already there.
Make it semi-twitch, semi talent/lvl and you can have better chances of killing or something
Air combat could be done much like SWG does theirs.
Pretty much, Blizzard could finaly steal absolutely everything that worked and implement it here.
I'd play
Ghost is supposed to come out sometime this year. Thank you GameInformer magazine, lol.

Doesnt matter what copywrited name is butchered by the following words, "...ONLINE."
Whether its STAR WARS online, STAR TREK online, WW2 ONLINE, STARCRAFT online, wARCRAFT online, they all eventually turn out to be everquest clones where you grind, farm, twink, camp, and gank. Okay maybe wwiionline isnt so much like that but you still grind, camp and gank (if you play allied hhaha).
ComLink OnLine?
Seriously, though: Adding "online" to an existing product isn't guarantee of failure.
But I read a WoW forum thread (referenced in MMORPG.COM news section for having referenced MMORPG.COM discussion) where a staffer explained that they could not allow players to affect the world because it would ruin the storyline up to the next game.
The developers shot themselves in their collective foot on that one.
It would have been so easy not to set the action exactly inbetween two Warcraft games, and not as a part of the WoW offline game storyline, but instead as an addition.
And had they done that, the game could have been much better. You don't have to ruin a product, you don't have to butcher it with an 'online'. You can make it very nice and healthy.
But I doubt WoW would have been better if they set it like I suggested. Even now there are ways they could make it better, ways that would not break the storyline, and they still don't do it. Narrow minds or any other reason guessed at, the reason the game is poor is probably not that it is based on a good offline game.
Lack of vision. Common problem.
The ability to die casually. The right kind of gameplay for many. A big problem for me.
The future: Adellion
Common flaw in MMORPGs: The ability to die casually
Advantages of Adellion: Dynamic world (affected by its inhabitants)
Player-driven world (beasts won't be an endless supply of mighty swords, gold will come from mines, not dragonly dens)
Player-driven world (Leadership is the privilege of a player, not an npc)
