Ummmmmm....

I think something that is definitely needed is a video to get people who aren't hooked by text (like most of us here) wrapped around the vines that makes up HJ.

Those little videos on the website are nice, but I keep seeing a lot of the same comments by different people.. They just obviously can't visualize what is happening behind the scenes like I can. I mean, sure I'd love to see a video, but I'm not suggesting this just for myself, I really think it would give a gigantic boost to the fan base that is already here.

But that's just an opinion. I'd just rather get them snagged now before they choose something else they can see.

    Yeah, I'm suprised there isn't an official video yet, considering they went to the trouble of integrating footage into the actual site. They could've just released it. Or better footage of the E3 adventure.

    Rather than that I would be happy to see just some little improvements. At the moment their marketing is just terrible.

    1. A regular update of their homepage:

    Only take a look at the last news dates:

    • Jan. 18 · New Hero's Journey Website!
    • Jan. 18 · RPG Vault Peek #14
    • Jan. 5 · HJ in the Press!
    • Dec. 2 · The Unofficial HJ FAQ!
    • Dec. 1 · Interview with Simutronics CEO at TenTonHammers
    • Dec. 1 · Hero's Journey in the Press (RPGVault)

    Three news per month - that isn't good enough to compete - even at the moment (and I know that there are more news which could be written about HJ - those two months are lost ones on the marketing side), because they'll have to compete against other games with similar release dates (like Age of Conan, Vanguard, and so on). By saying that: As a potential customer it's in my own interest that this game will be hyped more and I am doing a lot to hype it. As I stated in one of the posts here I am member of different German and French RP-Forums and I am promoting this title a bit. Also I am working for the Mystics Fanpage on Hero's Journey with Andragon.
    They were even some very weird assumptions on some boards about Hero's Journey. A french guy told me that the only intention of Simutronics is to be bought up by a bigger company. ::::12:: And then he was refering to the previous attempt to realize this project.

    1a. A new Lore section!
    I would love to see some more background information about the world of Elanthia.

    2. I know it was mentioned over and over in the past few weeks, but I am not the only one who really wishes a new forum. Because of what was mentioned before: The current forum act as a deterrent to any newcomers.

    3.And yes finally after that I would like to see some new movies in the corner or if possible a well-designed trailer.

    I know HJ-Royce said before that word of mouth is important and can be better than a sophisticated marketing strategy - but at least you need to have a established name. Of course there is a englishspeaking community and Simu is a known and established company in that area, but it is quite unknown to other market areas like France, Germany, and so on.

    Just my two € cents.

    That is the video that has been circulating from E3 last show.  I know your saying you want some other type of video, but when I watched that particular one, I was very hyped up. I cant begin to imagine anything better than that.

    Hero's Journey is not going to be like the other games.  People keep saying, "well the other games do this, the other games do that"  All I can tell you is if you miss out a chance to play Hero's Journey which is made from people that have been making games for 15 years and taught these other gaming companies a thing or two, than you will be missing out.

    Now there might or might not be a video in the works, I dont handle that part, I build. I just wanted to show you that link, because that video shows a lot about some of the combat, and  character creation and some of the fantastic tip of the ice-berg things that are just the beginning of a great game.

    I suppose you could call the small video's posted on the main HJ web site as a sort of teaser trailer. You know the kind I mean. The movie previews that come out far before the movie is finished. Usually showing a mere picture or two followed by something along the lines of "Comming in the Summer of 2012".

    Consider that the dates for BETA haven't even been set yet. The game is not going live tomorrow, I assure you that. I'm sure that as the game moves closer to being 'ready' that the marketing will rise, that would only make sense. For now... consider yourselves some of the early fans. A few years from now you'll be telling your friends that you were waiting for HJ since before they even had any official video's. Someday in the not to distant future it will be you guys that are considered the 'old school HJers" image

    The last time I waited for something long was the first Lord of the Rings movie by Peter Jackson. Two or three months after I read Lord of the Rings, I found an article on a German fansite where there was a something mentioned about the first cast and some other news.
    I tried to convince some of my friends that this could be a great movie (nobody really expected it could end like that), but they reminded me of the earlier attempt to realize this.

    And now I try to convince some of them that it is worth to wait for this title.

    Let's hope that I will be right.

    @HJ-Zee

    Of course it is not going live "tomorrow", but even the official page of Hero's Journey is mentioning something about 2006. And I would guess the "old school HJers" are those who are waiting now for about more than 3 years for Hero's Journey.

    Its all relative right now. I'll show you what I mean... If 100 million people were to play HJ then the first 1 million to show interest in the game might be considered 'old school'. But it doesn't really matter I suppose.

    Was the wait for Lord of the Rings worth it? I know for me it was! image

    Bah....3 years ? image Anyone remember when Mr Whatley first pitched the idea?  The concept then was good - and the limited stuff we saw was good as well...but nothing like what we're seeing come out now some 7? years later.

      On a side note - I do remember having a great many post-chats with Fawn about the game-to-be at that point.  That's one that will be missed !

    @Eliandal

    I wrote "more than 3 years..." because I didn't know when everything first started, so I didn't want to refer to a wrong date.

    @HJ-Zee

    Absolutely. I think nobody could've solved everything better than Peter Jackson. His interpretation of the LOTR is ingenious and I think even Tolkien would have been satisfied.

    At least I am among the first German fans of Hero's Journey. I'll hopefully get a a badge "old school Hjers" ::::02:: (I am joking - I don't really like any kind of badges or medals). I am finally doing all the marketing around Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein (I really love the Liechtensteiner...), Austria, Switzerland ::::02:: (Andragon from the Hero's Journey Mystics Team is also doing a fantastic job...) so where are the medals forged by some Burians? ::::39::

    Yes, they are close enough...but may be they will melt in the summer if you try to show them to one of those HJ newbies...what a sign of proud!
    so instead of that could we get some suwaris as workers in our underground mines at mystics?...hm...but that wouldn't be a good idea...wasn't there something mentioned about

    cooking in cat grease
    by one of the GMs?

    Well, I think we should really take the peanut butter chocolate chips as a sign of eh...real honour...forged by the Burians...and there should be something written on the front side of the chips in elvish letters..."I was among the first million fans of HJ when it was released..."

      And I guess I'm going to have to get Zee used to my humor - could take a while - just ask the Gemstone GM's (Of course, that would entail releasing just who I am in game image)

      Rob...sort of
