So true; no such thing as a bad supplier, only bad supplier management.
Doesn't really matter who makes the game, SOE are the prime contractor and accepted a change proposed by their supplier. They then failed to manage them to ensure they delivered the spec on time. SOE bear ultimate responsibility.
I'm probably one of the very few people who like NGE - but then I quit SWG 2.5yrs ago because the grind was so too much for me. What SOE were too stupid to figure out is that people like me are unlikely to come back and all they'd do is p*ss off the players who liked it the way it was.
SWG must go down as the biggest missed opportunity in the history of MMOs
Honestly, this year is the first year I've ever looked at the gaming selection and thought there was nothing appealing. That my husband is feeling the same way only adds to the growing conviction that MMOs are moving in a direction that neither of us will follow for long, which I feel is unfortunate.
I've had many years of good times in gaming. I even managed to find the fun in Ultima Online, if you can imagine it. It is a most irritating coincidence that they would change SWG into something I can't play even if I still had any delusions that SOE and LA would "make it better" and was willing to continue to pay for on a year when the selection of games available wasn't all that.
I really, wholeheartedly WANT to find a game that will get me excited again. It's just my dumb luck that there is nothing out or coming soon that seems remotely capable of fitting the bill. A genuine case of "sux to be me".

Have you tried EVE-online? If not give the trial a whirl. My GF has canceled SWG and is waiting on one of the many new titles to be released this spring.
I agree at the moment choice seems rather limited, although in reality it's never been so diverse and come spring you'll be spoilt for choice. So just do what my GF is doing and bite the bullet and wait. I used to play SWG pre-cu so know how you feel, I was just lucky in seeing that the CU/R/B/Whatever was just a load of rubbish (too much "I can't tell you anything about it, but it's very exciting! I'm most excited!").
My GF will start Dark and Light (I know don't anyone start telling me about Farlan) when it finally gets released.

Thanks, Agri. I am very put off by the lack of an avatar in EVE. I find it difficult to identify with a space vessel. I guess I'm too anthripocentric.
At this time, I'm pretty resigned to spending less time gaming and spending what time I do game split between AO and WoW. I may try to steer my husband towards EVE, as he needs a game far more than I do (he only logs into WoW to punish people who corpsecamp me excessively or to help me with difficult quests when I can't find a decent team to tackle them) and PvP is a high priority with him and his friends, who are also pretty done with WoW.

If the game had only gone in reverse, it would be the come back story for all time.
