    Poor Jeff...

"Interesting factoid, I couldn't even post THIS without someone linking to it and taking about SWG.

Honestly, this blog's days are numbered...

Well it IS funny that a lead designer for the monkey-simple SWG-nge happens to think complicated is more fun.

    Irony.. Line one.

    Jeff comments on SWG forums:

"I don't speak about SWG on my blog. I may speak about game design in general, or high level design concept sorts of things that aren't appropriate for discussion here. But to speak about SWG specifically: well I'd do that on these forums.

Certainly when I was a younger man, I was willing to devote a great deal of time to mastering arcane rules just to be able to play a game. But those days are long gone. SWG needed to be a lot more accessible. It also needed to be a lot more maintainable.

SWG needs depth and complexity too, but it can't be the thing that greets new players at the door. That complexity needs to be built on a solid foundation; and the game itself needed to be easier to get into and more directed."

Nah, someone posted his blog like I did here and he came in to respond to it.  I'm betting though that he will kill that blog soon though because it is nothing but grief for him nowadays.

I know I baited him into responding about "Shenanigans". Seriously, though -- the man is Lead Game Play designer, runs a public and well-known blog under his OWN name on game theory.

He's a moron if he expects to be able to blog about game play and game design and not have the players of his game talk about it.

It's not the player's fault that Jeff Freeman's views on Game Design are opposite to the game he's currently designing. It's not the player's fault that Freeman bragged about how awesome and fun the NGE was right before it killed off 150k subs.

Let that be a lesson to you: If you blog under your real name -- or post under your real name -- you either better not talk about your job, or face the consequences of doing so. Part and parcel of blogs is the fact that people will hold your feet to the fire if they so choose. Jeff's all squirmy because there's a bunch of people pissed off at him personally, and he's given them a couple of barrels of ammo.

In the end, though, Shenangians is what sunk him. The whole thing -- in light of how the NGE turned out -- is so amazingly clueless you wonder how he managed to keep his job. There must have been one hell of game of "Point the finger" at SOE -- and Jeff Freeman is it's God. (ALthough I bet the game is still going on).

In the end, though -- what the hell are they going to do with a sub base of less than 50k? To even make a profit they'd have to cut back to maybe 8 servers and a Dev team of no more than 10.

Oh well, the fun is over, Jeff removed yet another of his posts on the blog because he couldn't take the heat.

Mighty thin skinned devs SOE has nowadays.

Yup it is gone now .... no matter ... i have read Jeffs garbage before. In one (immediately after NGE hit) he wrote how wonderfull NGE was and that he was so proud about being a part of it. He also bragged about him and Ralphie  ... in reality .... Jeff is a complete waste of human flesh. I am so surprised he is still employed with this project.
