Been a while since Microsoft has released a new OS, in fact it's been quite a gap. Well Vista will be with everyone soon (Dec 2006 looking likely) and...you can only run Halo 2 on Vista. Vista pushes peoples min spec quite high to take advantage of the the new features, like 3D spinning windows . Anyway, do I really want to make BG richer, I'm actually happy with XP (ok I'm not really, a seive has less holes). Obviously Halo 1&2 are MS games, but forcing people to upgrade to play an XBox 360 port, hmmm.
This has got me thinking about moving to Linux, I tried it before, but I lost some work after my Boot Disk record got corrupted. I was assured I could dual-boot, but Windows insists has being record #1.
3 main things I do with my PC:
1) play the latest games/mmogs. Duh!
2) surf Internet/forums/email. I have been using Firefox and Thunderbird for 5 months now and they are awesome.
3) Do development work in Visual Studio/Dreamweaver.
Ok I probably do 2 and 3 in Linux, but 1 I'm not sure. Yeah I could use an emulator, but 2 years from now I doubt it. If Vista costs about £100 I'll get it cause it's not worth the hassle, but if it's a penny over and I need to upgrade then time to meet the penguin again. Most of the features sound like bloatware anyhow.
Heh I went off-topic on my own off-topic thread.

Yup, Microsoft loves us, we have to upgrade to Windows Vista, a 300 dollar operating system to play a 2 year old Xbox1 port to pc, not a Xbox 360 port
Either way MS is really showing its love to us pc gamers....excitement!
$300? Where did you see that? I believe they are going to be offering relatively cheap versions.

kind of like the "cheap" versions of photoshop which are nothing but a slightly upgraded paint....
but i agree with scorpes...

Vista is Vista, you'll be able to play Halo 2.

So either:
A: Xbox ($250+) + Halo 2 = Happiness?
B: PC (your all using one) + Vista ($300?) + Halo 2 = Happiness?
C: you have a xbox and Halo 2 + xbox live =

Honestly how many people are going to buy this anyway? If you wanted to play the Halo series that bad I'm sure you already have an Xbox.
Im not suprised over the Vista thing, im suprised people are still actually talking about Halo.
"There's no star system Slave I can't reach, and there's no planet I can't find. There's nowhere in the Galaxy for you to run. Might as well give up now."
Boba Fett
Halo 2 ened so short. Not saying it's a short game but it makes you feel like at the end that you got more to do and BAM the credits roll up. I know people at bungie said they had to redo the whole game...i got the collectors edition of Halo 2 but I never looked at that DVD...
Now I got to buy a Xbox 360 for the sole purpose of Oblivion. (not saying I brought a Xbox for Halo, I had one before Halo.
. . . well Halo 2 is coming out for PC. That is why we are talking about it. You can't deny that Halo has it's fame, but I'm not going into that.

It goes like this as far as I know:
Halo 2 is being made for Windows Vista only. No support for any other version of Windows. So it will be a pretty expensive game to buy. Since you need the game, Windows Vista and most likely a upgrade/new computer. Since there are rumors that Vista only will support a very limited number of single core processors .
I'd imagine there will be an easy work around. ID released Doom3 for XP and 2000 only. They did so simply so they'd have to do less testing and support. The program itself checked your OS and then refused to run if you had a different version of winblows. All you had to do was disable the windows version check and it ran fine on '98. I suspect the same will be true for Halo except the motivation is to sell Vista not to do less testing/support. Let's face it, XP isn't really all THAT much better than '98, mostly it's extra bells and whistles you don't need or use. There's even less need to go out and buy Vista.
