guild search

I'm looking for some folks to game with when this comes out. I like to read through the quests and be thorough cleaning out areas. I don't mind a rogue stopping to search the area when he needs to. I also don't mind following the rogue so I don't become the catcher for some unsprung trap. I'm in the beta and have been for quite some time, but it seems like people are always in a hurry to run through the dungeons. Actually, when I say I don't mind, what I mean to say is, I prefer.

I've played WoW and many other MMO's and quite frankly I'm tired of the rushed pace of these games. That's one of the draws to DDO for me. Once I get used to the quests I may not be so relaxed about it all, but when the game first comes out, I don't plan on being the first level 10 on any server. I plan on being one of the many to actually enjoy the game.

If anyone is starting a guild that shares this type of gameplay, please let me know so that I can hook up with you all. I've already pre-ordered the game and I should be in as soon as anyone else. The first weekend my wife and kids will be out of the house so I'll be playing a lot that weekend.

I'm looking for a list of guilds that I may fit in with. A newly formed group would be preferred. I would like to be on equal footing with everyone as all would be new to the game and new to this guild. A guild forum is required to carry on thoughtful discussions. This is another huge thing. If this game is to be fun, I really feel like a mature discussion within guild will be important. Not just guild stuff, but life stuff as well.

I don't think I'm alone in this search so I'll put a few points here that I believe are easily attainable from a guild:

1) No drama
This needs no explanation

2) It's a game, nothing more
I've been in too many groups where someone simpy made too much of a situation -- it's a game, relax.

3) Be responsible and respectful
This is one of those things that so many things can be said about. I think I'll keep it simple and leave it as-is.

4) Avoid petty arguments
This reflects the second point, but I felt it needed to be said.

5) Share in-game items with one-another
I've not seen money to be too important in DDO so far. If you find something that someone else could actually use, by all means, please let them know and perhaps they can trade you something (or not).

6) Offer advice only upon request
Don't ruin another players experience by constantly telling them how to play. If they ask you for advice and you can constructively give it, by all means, assist. It may even be a good idea to ask if they mind you giving them advice if you have substantial experience with a certain dungeon or character class. However if they don't seem to want the advice, then just don't give it.

I'm not a touchy-feely, share my emotions with everyone, type of person, but I have seen many groups disband because of silly situations. I'd rather play the game and have fun than spend time arguing or coddling. Granted, there are situations when you need everyone to be at their best to get past a quest, but these general points are good for the other 99% of the game.

Keep in mind, this is just my rambling and while I doubt I will find a perfect guild, I believe this is certainly the game to find that guild.

That's my 2¢.

EDIT/UPDATE: I've found a guild that I believe measures up to the basics mentioned. PM me if you're interested. Thank you for your time.

Apocalance - It sounds to me that you might be the exact kind of gamer that I am, and have noted in my posts on these boards.  You should take a look at my threads and see if you agree.  I would be very interested in starting a guild with you, and if he'll join us, Burrek.  I think the three of us would be able to appreciate what the game has to offer, and like you - I would love to take my time to thoroughly delve into each dungeon, and make the most of the content provided by each quest.  I'm a versitile player, as I've also played countless MMORPGs.  A little aobut me, to give you an idea of my play times: I'm a soldier, currently deployed to Iraq.  I'm using my laptop to play on a sattelite connection, which I share bandwith on with other users.  Thankfully, I work the night shift, so not too many people are on during the day when I play.  I do experience some lag from time to time when playing, and it can get pretty bad, but this also may just be some networking issues that they have not worked out before release.  I am 8 hours ahead of EST, and usually play from 9am or so until noon, then again from about 4pm until about 7pm or so.  I can really work out any playtimes from as early as 8am to 7:30pm my time, depending on the situation (how busy I am with work, if I am out on a mission [I won't be able to log in when I go on missions]), etc.  If you think you'd be interested in starting up a guild with me, please let me know.  You can contact me either through here, or email me at patrick.chase1@us.army.mil.  I hope to hear from you bro.

I wanted to extend that invitation to anyone else who is interested in finding such a guild when the game launches...  I'll be creating one on a Roleplaying server, aimed at the overall experience of the game.  As it is limited to the amount of content at this stage, I see no point in rushing through the game or levels; We'll be taking our time to actually read and enjoy the content, strategically navigate the entirety of every dungeon (at least the first time through the dungeon), and exploring every last stone and path in the game.  All classes and races are welcome, and you are not required to be a roleplayer - though it is encouraged.  We'll be of Neutral Good alignment, and will be named GODS - Guardians of Divine Souls (a branch from a guild that has been together through DAOC and EQ2, though not limited only to members from those games).  Anyone interested in joining the guild, please email me at patrick.chase1@us.army.mil with an appropriate subject informing me of your interest in membership.  I'm still considering whether or not to link the guild to the one currently running in EQ2 or not (I will have to discuss this with the current guild leader, a friend of mine), and will let everyone know at the time of the guild's creation.  We will be a fully open economy within the guild - sharing all weapons, armor, scrolls, etc. to members within the guild.  This goes for money as well; if you have some extra coin and a member needs financial help to properly outfit themself, I would expect our members to help.  I'll look forward to hearing from interested players - to everyone not interested, good luck in your journies within the game!

Hey that sounds like fun. Unfortunately I have zero interest in starting a guild as I've done that in the past and for DDO I simply want to enjoy the game. Yes that's right, it's time for me to be "just one of the guild." ::::23::

Anyway, I've updated my post to include that I've found a guild that seems to fit my needs. If you're interested, please PM me. Although I don't see roleplaying as a feature of this guild (and I don't roleplay either so that works for me).

Thank you for your response --- and stay safe over there damn it!

    so...

I will more than likely still start my own once the game goes live; but i do wish you the best of luck and hope you do well in your guild!  Maybe we'll even run into one another somewhere down the line.
