26, Im sure the average age will be around 16. Its really not so much the age of the players as it is the maturity level. I've played with my 17 YO cousin who is more mature on the game then alot of players claiming to be 20+.
However I believe WoW targets the younger group because alot of them are new to the MMO market and "Fresh meat" for Blizzard to get hooked to their type of games (i.e Diablo 2).
But thats just my 2 cents.

19 years old. Playing in a 18+ guild with 100+ members. But this poll will in no way give a true image. Every Wow hater will vote 5-10 and all Wow lovers will vote something that sounds "good".

The majority of the players that I know are mostly in their mid 20's. However, I routinely play with someone who's 16 and know a few in their late 50's, early 60's.

In my experience it's the 20-something crowd that tends to be the most immature. Maybe it's some combination of early mid-life crisis and internet anonymity.

Either way, WoW attracts all sorts because of it's polished environment and immediate fun factor.

Meh, I don't think age is really the issue here. I've met 14-16 year olds in the game who are decent folks, while at the same time I've had the displeasure of having to deal with elitist players around my age (20+) who think that anyone who's not decked out in epics should lick their boots.

Some may argue that elitisim =/= immaturity. But to me if you start to think your in-game superiority matters that much that you're willing to put down other people. you might want to sit down and think again.

This pole will not be representative of the average age of WOW players. It is representative of the average age of players who routinely use this site.

I would suggest that we may be among the most mature as we care enough about the game to do some reading and research into it.

I was in which the oldest person was 20 yrs old and we got along great! (im 12- got a problem?) last time i checked the game was 12+ :P and I had a very hard time finding a decent guild like that when we broke up (exams, career meetings, love problems, money issues etc.) we were only 40-60 we did have immature pricks but got kicked immediatly.

they will be playing the game not on this forum. Most ppl that come here are asking if they should play the game or don't like it and maybe a few looking for ingame info.

I was in a group with a few people the other day taking on Jintha'alor, its an elite area for those that dont play. Anywho, I was in a group with Myself (25) and 4 other people ages (16)(17)(23)(23). We exchanged ages for some reason. Anyway, were in the middle of fighting some mobs, and the 2 23 year olds who were friends dissapear..because the warsong gulch battle started. So needless to say the rest of us die. I message one of the people how abondened ship to ask why he did that. He replies, im not here to make friends, i own you. interesting. This is a lvl 43 warrior with mostly epic gear, so i message back.."the only thing you own is buying gold on ebay". /ignore. The point of this ramble is the two 16/17 year olds stayed with me in a group complaining about those other 2 the whole time. its not the age that is the problem its just stupid people. /end rant

Well how are we suppose to know a 5 year old is going to go on this wbsite and enter that poll. There are imature players who go on WoW, but not this website. I mostly see people in their mid 20's or at least mature enough teens and not much imature people on here...so how do you expect a child would look for this website and even be able to sign up for it. Etheir WoW haters, or imature people who want to make a joke put age 5-10 as their vote.

And even if a child went on here they wouldnt be honost.

Maturity has everything to do with it. I, myself, am 16 years old. I never bail on groups, I don't use short-hand, I don't insult people unless they are truly idiots. And because of it, I have a nice reputation with my guild, and a good chunk of my server.

The only people who make your life in-game a living hell are the ones that can't handle themselves as functioning human beings.
