Leaving WoW , what's New?

Alright. First of all , I'm leaving WoW . Why? WoW has become the same thing EVERY DAMN DAY. You grind BG , you farm MC / BWL . You go to sleep . That's all it's become , and I fear the Expansion doesn't bring much anything new. Just more things to do the same farming sorts to. Well anyways, that's why I'm leaving my rank 14 hunter. Now , I must find a new MMO. I've done lots of research , and Darkfall is looking nice to me. But , does anyone have any ideas as to any MMO's , PvP oriented , with good Pve as well that are coming out soon , as in This year. I really don't want to wait =[ . I just want to quit WoW and go on my way. Darkfall , as nice as it looks , I wasn't too sure on how the PvE aspect of the game was. As in , massive Boss raid, dungeons , etc.

if you are looking for PvP and mostly great endgame, check out Shadowbane or EVE.
both have no grinding, leveling is either done in real time, passively (EVE) or very quickly to do (SB)
those games are mostly pure endgame and very much fun

Thanks much everyone! all the more the marrier. And as far as pay-per-month or free goes, I prefer pay-per-months.
I have Darkfall on my watch list and Dark & Light, too. A friend is playing D&L (SoG) on the non public servers and said it might become a nice game even though he seriously doubts it will be finished in the announced time since it's both instable and lacks most content yet. But there's hope

Yeah. You see , really I'm finished with WoW. 100%. And I could play some BF2 , or GW for another month or two at most. But really , I just want to start a NEW MMO / MMORPG. Somthing that Is fresh off the market, or coming in under 6 months. Somthing with PvP in it. I'm pretty hardcore PvP , but I don't expect for it to be PvP focused. I also love instances , and big world bosses and tactical problems that taken many people to accomplish with exciting loot. Somthing epic and fun like that. As far as play style goes, I could care less, I'm not one for the INterface or the format, or even the grahpics for the most part *better graphics deffinatly enhance the gameplay though*. I'm in it for the content. How large are the maps? How vast are the lands, how many races / classes are there. How many items? And are items for better or worse? I know that in WoW , a well geared person will have a MAJOR advantage to one who's not geared well.
So anyways, looking for somthing coming out soon , and with a balanced PvP / PvE era. I don't mind if it's alittle more on one side or the other. - Thanks!

IMO there isn't a NEW game on the market yet that's worth playing. EQ2 isn't Bad though for fantasy.
The best MMO's on the market, in my opinion, are DAOC and EVE. I'd recommend trying one, or both, of those.

Considering that it doesn't have to be new to be a good and fun game, I strongly suggest DAoC. Shadowbane is also mentioned a lot as an answer in similar threads, but I have no personal experience.
And EVE Online, of course, has great PvP but its target audience is quite different from the fans of medieval fantasy.

Hm, no game can be fun forever, so taking breaks or switching between different games is always a things to keep in mind.
I am currently enjoying my 14 day free trial of EVE online, I am also wasting small time on the free game FlyFF.
But otherwise I am waiting for Dark And Light + Darkfall, DnL will be great IF they pull it off, unfortainly it looks bleak but hope is what keeps us strong ain't it.

Yaeh thanks. Well as you said , any game can become boring after prolonged play. But WoW doesn't have that much content ON TOP of playing it so much. I'm done. So now I'm just seraching for somthing new. When's the ETA on Darkfall? That looks fun , being one for PvP and all. I don't really think anything great is coming out anytime soon though, looks like everythingis still in development, unless someone finds somthing c thad be great = D. Thanks.
Well DaOC looks awesome, but it's been out so long. That's the thing , I really don't want to play catch-up. It's not fun when the game has been conquered and you haven't even leveled. I like to stay on the top, or stay with the stream. Although , I till may give it a try.
Apart from Vanguard and maybe 1 or 2 others (Seed, maybe Darkfall) I don't really see much new stuff that interests me out there. In fact I've recently downgraded my broadband to a lower speed as I don't use the connection as much to justity the extra speed/cost anymore.
I'd recommend playing on the "Classic" servers (Gareth or the Lamorak/Ector cluster). They are relatively new servers, only put up this past summer. Also, as classics, they don't have Master Levels or Artifacts to contend with since TOA is disabled thus you have less 'catching up' to do.
Lastly, in DAOC you really won't be 'behind'. There are battlegrounds all the way to level 50 where you can compete with other players in your level range (level locked BG's only certain level players can get in) so you'll never feel "behind" while you level up. And once you hit 50 you'll have already accumulated enough realm abilities to compete with the big boys on relatively equal footing.
And while, yes, it's been out a long time Mythic has done a fantastic job of keeping the game 'fresh'. The Catacombs and DR clients REALLY beefed up the graphics in the game (game-wide, not just new areas) and anyone who comes back and tries the free trial will probably be shocked by how good the new graphics are. I know I was last november when I first came back after downloading the client upgrades from Mythic.

Ah. I very well may give this one a shot. At least until Darkfall comes out. But , how long does the leveling system take, roughly? WoW it takes 2 weeks to get from minimum to maximum level for me. Also , how is the PvE. (Raid bosses , world bosses). And finally , I absolutley love bg's in any game, but what about World PvP, any of that? Thanks.
I just think mythic did a good job reviving the game.
Before classic servers i heard nothing but bad points.

conan is the only thing that I'm waiting for, all the (new) rest seems like crap.
Guild Wars is worth checking out. Even if you dont fall in love with it right away, if you give it a chance you might like it.
I recently stopped playing wow, lack of time. When i went back i felt burnt out. Guild Wars was alittle refreshing. I like the character development system. And after taking another look i think i like the weapon upgrades options nsuch.
Nothing perfect, you just have to find something that fits you MMO wise.
If you're looking for fun PvP this is the game for you, Dark Age of Camelot has always blown MMOs out of the water with their PvP. World PvP is basically the way to go, you take over keeps and towers with use of siege weapons and whatnot, you can even damage the walls of the keep and waltz right through the hole with their system. I'm a recent WoW refugee as well and am about to restart my DAoC account. And to answer your questions:
PvE: With the catacombs expansion it is supposed to be relatively easy to level, similar to WoW speed. Raid Bosses: Well let's see, each realm has their own private dragon, their own private high level raid dungeon in Shrouded Isles and Trials of Atlantis offered a lot of new raiding stuff (Though from what I hear it's been toned down recently which is actually a good thing.) Darkness Falls was a dungeon where PvP happened quite regularily and I seem to recall the final parts require raiding but I'm not sure. Beyond that I have no idea about raiding in DAoC as I've been out of the loop for quite some time.

My wow account has been inactive for several months now. I'm just wating around for Darkfall. It is the only thing I see that I want.
RF Online has a pointless PvP. There is no cooldown for potion drinking. If your opponent is in your lvl range, the winner will be the one with more potions. I only got what people were calling "potion spamming" after I played the beta and unfortunatly I have to say it is lame.
The game concept is nice but they ruined PvP with the stupid potion spamming thing.
You might want to check out The Chronicles of Spellborn, it's in development. The game has some interesting features like the clothing/armour not effecting combat or being class specific.
Another one that looks interest is Age of Conan.
Actually , to tell you the truth , I kind of like spending countless hours solo grinding. Getting the occasional fun drops , doing massive raid bosses, and other various PvE things of the solo , and massive sorts. But , IMO there's no point in getting this gear unless you use it in PvP. I mean , it does feel accomplishing YOU got your Vamp-Gaze, or your full Tier 2 set. But , I've just done to much of to little in WoW , and am fed up. So once again , does look like nothing new is out = ( . Any Betas I could try to get into soon? Or anything come out FAIRLY recently that I could give a shot? Thanks
Ok my suggestion is also for Vanguard:SOH, which will be PvE based but with PvP servers. It will be a lot more of a challenging, or skill based game than WOW however, but if your up to the test then it will be an awesome experience. Leveling will take a LOT longer than WOW also(read: many months), so it is a longer term experience.
The game will have a lot to do and all those things you just described are in. They also are interested in expanding the variation between special ruleset servers, so look forward to different PvP servers such as FFA or good vs evil sort of a thing like EQ2, or maybe even a realm vs realm sorta thing like daoc. The PvE has a lot of new and exciting features to it as well, so you should not get bored for a long time.
Beta for Vanguard is at its 2nd stage and there will most likely be open beta in a few months so look forward to it.
