I was looking through some of screenshots of HJ on Gamespot and came across this one.

I think the metal gate in that picture surrounding the "Crypt" or Mausoleum, or whatever it is looks kinda 2-D. Anyone else think the same?
Also the edges look "rough" as far as graphic refinement. I think this is an earlier screenshot and I don't kno what the current level of graphic refinement is at but this SS made me worry a little when I saw it is all...
Was this SS just taken where the gfx settings were turned down or maybe taken on a lower-end machine?
I should add for fairness, that most of the SS's of HJ that I see look really good. Just this one made me a little uneasy.

It's just a low quality screen shot over all. Thats not what the game looks like. Look through the ones on the HJ website and here, not at gamespots :P
That picture does not correctly portray the amazing graphical quality that HJ is going to support. Don't even think twice about that picture. When you log in for the first time you will be amazed. When you log in the umteenth million time like me and your still amazed... its a good sign

If you desire one thing for so long, it's a given that you'll miss other things along the way.
He who attacks must vanquish. He who defends must merely survive.
That's good to hear.
One more thing; Are all of the screenshots untouched by photoshop or 3d rendering? If so, then HJ will truely has some of the most beautiful lighting and model textures I have ever seen. Surface textures look like they need touching up in general though.

Seriously, I have a crappy video card right now, and HJ looks awesome.
I just ordered an eVGA Geforce 6800GS.. so that should be here in a few days, so I'm expecting it to look a lot better.
I think everyone is gonna be surprised at how good it looks.. There is more dimension to the game than the screenshots could ever really show..
And I really don't think they've touched the screenshots at all.. the lighting is really cool, every time I turn the camera I'm like oo the light looks really different from this angle. It's neat..

Other than adding the WWW.HEROSJOURNEY.NET logo to the bottom left corner of the screen I'd say all of the images, here and on the official site, are un-retouched. To be fair though, the in-game graphics are much better since they're not static.
I was wondering how the devs would rate the current in-game graphics of the game? Would it be something like Guild Wars' graphics, Lineage II's, Asheron's Call II's, Ever Quest II's, or what? Would its style be a cross between one of those games? Maybe a cross between the graphics of Guild Wars and WoW er... Just trying to get an idea of the graphics.
I disliked WoW much because of its style of graphics in that every character had an arm as big as my waist and the elves' ears were ten times longer than a linx's. The gnomes also had incredibly horrific-looking faces. They looked like creatures out of some B-rated movie called Attack of the Space Clowns. The Dwarves in Lineage II were well done but every single dwarf looked like a clone. Amazingly enough this was an improvement over Lineage I. The dwarf females in that game looked more like gnomes which was fine by me. I never played one - mostly a male elf warrior or male human wizard. I know that the character appearance customization is going to be incredible in this game which I must say truly rocks. I'm not even sure, though, what all the character appearance options are. Could you clue me in with a list? I mean, in one of the screenshots I believe I've seen nose length/nose width/position on face/etc. Could you mention any more options and also what the current state of the graphics are like in this game with possible references to other games or just give me a screenshot that portrays the state of the graphics in its finest moment as of to this date?

The old saying that a picture is a thousand words holds true in the character models for Hero's Journey. We could sit here all day comparing the HJ models to WoW, EverQuest, Asheron's Call, etc, but to be honest, there really is no comparison to any MMORPG currently on the market.
Hero's Journey allows the player more controls to customize a character than any other MMORPG that I've ever seen. Yes, you could literally sit there for hours, customizing the face, the body, the armor, the clothing, the boots, the gloves....*inhale* You get my point (I hope).
Below are a few links to screenshots here on MMORPG.com that have some sampling of characters. Mind you, a GM went in, took some time to create the character's look, and then the clothing. When players start playing HJ, they won't all have the same standard gear "Apprentice Robes" and "Wooden Sword" that makes them look like everyone else. Nor will you have to be confined to selecting between 8 whole faces for your character.
Okay, here are those links.

i just upgraded to that same card from a 6600gt and was pleasantly surprised at the quality difference (in other games, not in beta or anything, just thought i would comment).
