It's your choice but consider this...

Yes it is your money, your life and you live in the U.S. where you get to decide what you do. But think about the bigger picture for a second. If you keep playing SWG and then eventually others join you and the game becomes a success and rivals WOW, you will have effectively told the gaming/MMO community that it's ok to change your game. Change it whenever you want to, to whatever you want to and get away with it. No one can touch you so do whatever you want. Is that what we as gamers want? No control? No say so as a group? We were a part of what made SWG successful. We saw the vision and invested our money and ourselves. If you keep playing this game you're telling SOE and other companies that it's ok to screw your payer base and no one will hold you accountable. There are gonna be those players that like the game as an FPS. Not much anyone can do about them except hope that one day they get it. But for those who are playing only because of friends or because it's Star Wars, you should take a hard look at what your continued support is saying and doing.

Why did companies stop selling products with CFC's (Chlorofluorocarbons)? Because people found out what it was doing to the ozone and said we're not buying those products anymore. When it was first discovered what CFC's were doing to the atmosphere there was doubt, ignorance and resistance. People didn't believe the scientific community or didn't care. They liked their products and were going to continue using them, ozone be damned. There were a lot of products on the market that used CFC's as a propellant. Products that we used and depended on for everyday life. Many of these companies struggled to find alternative propellants for their products. But the scientific community kept up the pressure with their data and findings and eventually everyone came around and stopped buying those products because they saw the bigger picture. Don't let SWG destroy the ozone because that affects us all and the damage may be irreversible.

If SWG becomes a game that, as you put it "Rivals WoW"... then the apocalypse is happening, and I'll probably be eating my own ass to survive.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled :( - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

It was merely a hypothetical scenario to illustrate my point.

    I see your point.

But I see little chance that SWG will ever get back to the 250-300K subs it once had, much less rival WoW.

About the most they can hope to achieve is to keep what they have left, and slowly grow it some. Which they could have done with either the pre-CU or CU games, and had a much larger base to grow from...

I don't think ANY company is ever going to replicate the SWG example after seeing the howling bad press. If SWG didn't have "Star Wars" in the name, the CU would have killed it completely and they'd never have made it long enough to get the final ass screw NGE out.

No offense but my intent was not for people to focus on this statement:

"If you keep playing SWG and then eventually others join you and the game becomes a success and rivals WOW, you will have effectively told the gaming/MMO community that it's ok to change your game."

But to focus on this statement:

"But for those who are playing only because of friends or because it's Star Wars, you should take a hard look at what your continued support is saying and doing."
