MMOFPS/MMOFPM?

Okay so I've been slowly recognizing that I have shaken off my addiction to WoW. I know some good reasons why but here's one I'll blatantly type out: the pvp in wow sucks.

So anyways I've been researching/brainstorming games that would appeal to my tastes.
I looked back at my experience with Neocron and although this game had/has a lot of downers, it also had a lot of upers as well. PvP-wise, Neocron was cool and fun, the fps part made this game even more fun for me.

I've looked at some UO threads and have learned UO had/has good pvp qualities to it.

I researched into/tried Endless Ages; looks like it could have some good aspects to it but the lack of a good manual and the initial community I met (which sounded like a bunch of 12 year olds) turned me off.

Anyways, I've taken a look at planetside and heard about their recent f***-up with the "free trial". When I consider planetside I think: Okay here's a MMO FPS, it's got some good stuff in it but overall it doesn't look much more original then halo or neocron.

Planetside also doesn't look like it has melee

I'm thinking about going back to Neocron or perhaps pushing myself to get back into Endless Ages in hopes of finding the good stuff.

Where can I find other MMO FPS games? What do you call a FPS-style game, but with melee? Would you call such a game a FPM?

Anyways I'd like to finish off by saying this: If Ninja Gaiden was developed into a balanced MMO I'd be all over it like a fly on a pile of very erotic manure.

Or an MMO version of the Elder Scrolls series. You might want to check out Roma Victor, they have a similar system in the works.

SWG has Jedi, although you don't have to be a Jedi to use melee, all combat professions can do it   It is somewhat FPS like too.

However, PvP is in the process of being revamped.  At the moment it's open PvP (in that PvP can happen any location in the game), but the only reason to do it is for the fun of it and to take over the planet from the opposing faction.  The next publish will have a minor revemp to it but how exactly remains to be decided since the majority of the population do not want item looting from players (which was going to be part of the minor revamp).  Two publishes time is looking to be the true PvP (called teh GCW in SWG) revamp tho

Ehh starwars galaxies with no player vs player looting? Blah, I think I'm going to go back into Neocron and build a stealthing melee-er and leap from ledge to ledge befor hopping down to kill. It doesn't look as spectacular as it sounds but a players imagination is what makes or breaks the feel of NC.*shrug* Unless I see some better idea that's probobally the rout I'll be taking for now.

EDIT: Oh and what do you call a game that has FPS style but is melee? Or a combination of shooting and melee?

Cloaking with knife in Planetside is a very effective combat skill.

But melee is certainly not a normal engagement type in this game.

Project Entropia can be played either fps view or third person view. But the gameplay isn't the best at all.
Also it's skill system looks like a bunch of wrecked tools without any function and you'll take months to understand anything simple like walking...

Planetside is in no way shape or form like Neocron or Halo, there are a ton of more things to do, a ton of more vehicles to drive.. To put it short there is no other FPS let alone MMOFPS like it on the Market. While its not perfect it is worth a try. Also while they dont have sword carrying people running around there is meele in this game.. If you choose you can become a cloaker who specializes in sticking your dagger in peoples backs, they even have a implant that you can get that will make your meele damage more powerfull.. While is not a ninja running around slicing peoples heads off its still meele.
