No crafting in COH/COV but if you like hardcore combat, this is one of the best. not to mention being able to fly, run faster than cars, and jump over buildings. Image you and your group of 8 players taking on 40-50 mobs at one time.
You can pick up Cov for about $30.00 and get a free month out of it too. The regular subscription after that is $15.00. I think there is enough great content in Cov to keep you happy for one month and then hopefully the next free expansion will be out that will take the game to the next level. I think if you are a power gamer the game will keep you occupied for a few months, give you a chance to play through it with a few different character type (melee oriented, support class, pet controller type, etc).
Basically you log on kick butt and log off and don't feel like you are missing anything. No crafting, no loot system - it is all about seeing the world and fighting new bad guys. But really that is all the game has to offer, so if you play all the time it can get it old.
But you can create a unique character with a theme, with some powerful fun powers right from level one and play that guy up getting more and more cool powers to fight more and more bad guys in new and exciting places.
I think it is worth $30.00 and $15.00 a month until you get sick of it - it is a lot better than many other games out right now, but it may not last for years for you like it has for some. But there is a chance it may hit you just right and you'll love it and have a great run and even want to get city of heroes which I have seen lately even cheaper than $30.00. The your $15.00 a month pays for both games.
It is not a game that sucks your life away with in-depth quests it is just in the moment fun.

I was also wondering if I bought Cov if there was any kinda limit of how you can make your character? Cause I was wanting to make one ( if I got it) to look like The Crow from The Crow movie that stared the late Brandon Lee.

The chances that the name 'Crow' would available are almost Nil.
Even if it were, yeah, if a GM saw a Brandon Lee look-a-like named "The Crow", you'd be looking at a forced name-change.
Although, now I wanna try to make one just to see how close I can get. I'll post a screenshot tomorrow. Great movie by the way. Crow 2 sucked.

I was able to run around with no troubles and folks who play EQ where smiling at me a lot, especially if they know that pacini is an Italian restaurant!
And neither SoE nor the restaurant should be annoyed, free publicity for peoples who actually know them!
I was enjoying the unique "Ro" mixed with a BoT giant look I give the toon!
And...this is just an example...I made an extremely tiny girl, I name her Dia Mond and make her a Brute, she is all wearing white stuff and her powers give her a Diamond look...and she is as resistant as a CoV character can be.
And so on, the customisation is awesome! You want to look like Jason or Freedie Krueger...you can!
However, the only grudge I can find against that customisation, I wasn't able to create a "Carebear" looking character!

FWIW, Guild Wars is better than either of them. Wasn't really crazy about the graphics in WoW. Don't get me started on CoH/CoV. I'm jaded.

So is it worth a try?

Making a Crow lookalike would be remarkably easy. I think you could choose a reasonable approximation of the powers too.
But they wouldn't allow you to use the name.
The chances that the name 'Crow' would available are almost Nil.
